Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend! So much has happened and I want to update you! Here we go!

Fourth of July

I spent my 4th of July in Target and at a dual birthday party for one of my good friends. It was so nice and chill. Super hot so the kids were able to get wet and run around like crazy. The only thing that I didn’t do well that day was not packing and bringing my own food. So I was a bit hungry when I left the party. I’m vegan and I’m not one of those people who impose on others to provide food for me. Even when I visit my mother I take my own food. However when all was all said and done, we had a great time, flowing drinks, and my entire family loved the food served!

Fireworks

We didn’t do any ourselves. I don’t trust them or my family and I to do them safely. We did however catch the ones from Live Casino. It was a nice show. Thanks to Live Casino for re-sharing my story on Instagram. We also watched the fireworks show on the news as well! So pretty relaxed 4th.

Surgery Preparation

For the next few days after the 4th was all surgery prep. I did a lot of cleaning as well as laundry. I had to make sure that all of the bedding was accounted for etc.

Meal prep containers

Preparing my home has nothing to do with my husband’s inability to clean or cook at all! Let me be clear. We are a team! However it’s something I do to help as well as it eases my nerves. So I prepared about a weeks worth of food. So far it’s been holding. I didn’t make much for myself because my vegan meals need to be a little more fresher but I did make a small batch of food for myself.

Uptown Beer Garden

So of course there was an event the night before surgery! I had no issues with going to it. My surgeon told me to eat well before midnight and enjoy with no restrictions so I did! Uptown Beer Garden had all of the must haves. From small bites like pretzels and sandwiches to cocktails, beer, and alcoholic pouch drinks too! It was a blast. They are in their new location of 1500 JFK Blvd. The seating is more open with a flowing fountain. There are 2 bars and a food truck in the midst. It’s a great way to have happy hour or while venturing in the city to have drinks with friends! Check out the reel I made too!

Surgery Day

I was told to be at the hospital at 945am. I was there well in time. They started prepping me like I expected. Asking a ton of questions, verifying my information, iv, and other fluids and then play the waiting game. Finally in the early afternoon I was taken back and the surgery was completed. I had 2 cysts and one lymphoma removed from my neck area. One of the cysts had burst and kept leaking weeks before the surgery even with the doctor lacerating it in the office. I’m glad to not be in public and have my whole back filled with blood! So all in all it was worth it and necessary. I have a 2 week recovery time and I’m going to take one day at a time!

Space Jam: A New Legacy

The new Space Jam movie is out Friday July 16th. It has an all star cast featuring Lebrun James, Michael B. Jordan, Kyrie Irving, Zendaya, and a host of others. McDonald’s newest Happy Meals features toys from the movie. These are collection items. The team from McDonald’s sent my kids all of them and let’s say I just scored some cool mom points! So grab your favorite kid a Happy Meal in honor of the new Space Jam movie and make it a memory they will love!
