Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

My Condolences to the many lives that have been lost in yesterday’s tragedy in Texas. As a parent we know how hard it is to protect your children. The many parents who woke up to their child gone I can’t even put into words. We need legislative change immediately. No more prayers alone will fix this.

Happy Wednesday to all of my supporters. I hope that your week is off to a great start. I am back from Los Angeles and putting out all of the amazing content. This week though started off the roughest that I have experienced in a long time with so many unanswered questions. With that in mind, what went down?

Happy National Iced Coffee Day and Wine Day. Yes it’s like my two favorite days have joined forces. For those who do not drink coffee-it’s simply not your day. I hate when folks go out of their way to let others know they don’t drink it. When a national day of your choosing comes along-enjoy it. If you are in the Philadelphia or surrounding area here is some good coffee spots to consider.

R.I.P Tiki

While I was in Los Angeles, my cat Tiki had been admitted into the Animal Hospital for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. With that being said, I learned upon getting back that he was in kidney failure. When we took him the first time they weren’t able to detect it. This time, by the time they did it was too late. I was at the event when I got the call that he would not make it past the next day. We wanted desperately to bring him home to have one last night with the family. However he went into a seizure and we had to bring the kids to the hospital to say good bye. It was by far one of the toughest things I have had to do.

The fear and pain in their eyes was a lot. Reminding them that death is unfortunate part of life. Watching Tiki pass was hard even for the adults. However one comfort is that he isn’t in pain. The memories that we all created will remain in our hearts for a long time. So here’s to Tiki.

Kale my Name- Wednesday Review

The Vegan restaurant, Kale my Name has been having such a buzz since Tabitha Brown opened one in Los Angeles. While there I had the opportunity to check it out with my best friend, Cheryl. She isn’t vegan but was willing to try it out. We both loved it. All of the hype regarding the restaurant is definitely worth it. The food is absolutely delicious. I got the barbeque cauliflower wings. To be honest I thought it would be a small portion. I was wrong. So if you are going to go understand that the team isn’t feeding you with baby portions. You could get the wings and something to drink and be full.

However to get the full benefit of the experience and because I am greedy I got the brunch pancakes in blueberry with the sausage. These are a bit sweeter than normal non vegan pancakes. So if sweet isn’t your thing I would suggest the waffles. The restaurant when we went wasn’t busy. We also went at around 12:30 on a Thursday. Make sure you make reservations as it has been said to be busy otherwise. Special shout out to Robert who served us and took great care. The southern charm that we experience from Aunt Tabitha Brown online is shown in her staff and food in real life.

Summer Hotel Suggestion- Wednesday Review

So if you are ever in Los Angeles I would highly suggest you stay at the H Hotel LAX hotel. It’s a hotel that is a Curio Collection through the Hilton. It’s minutes away from the airport, the rooms are spacious, the staff is amazing, and it’s stunning. Like you feel like you are in an oasis. We would just about 30 minutes from anywhere we wanted to be. Kale my Name might have been 40 but that was it.

Wednesday Review

The hotel is really good about a speedy and efficient check in and check out process. I have stayed at this hotel now multiple times and every time I have not regretted it in the least bit. Also the beds are super comfortable. I was sleep in a matter of minutes. If you need somewhere to eat, I have eaten there in the Waypoint Bar and Cafe. It’s their onsite restaurant. The food is good.

I did enjoy the coffee bar called The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. I go everytime and I love it. From the coffee made to your likings, the Krispy Kreme that even if I don’t eat it provides a home feeling. Their teas are absolutely refreshing and they switch up their flavor offerings.  There are much to enjoy a great breakfast to start your day.

The BlogHer recap will hopefully be out tomorrow so stay tuned. Friday we will not have a guest for the podcast but we will have a podcast. So happy Wednesday. So many of us have a short week but an extended weekend too so enjoy it.
