Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Everyday is a day to be grateful! Not some days when the chips are up but everyday single day! It takes so much to forget gratefulness but it’s important! When was the last time you took a moment to experience gratitude? The moment in which you beamed with pride while being happy about the things that you have even when the things you don’t have are attempting to distract.

Does Gratitude help with Mental Health

Not every person with a mental health struggle, means they aren’t grateful. Speaking from personal experience, negative double talk brings you and others around you down. Now since getting the help and tools that I interchange goodness in my life. However that old Toi’s mindset wasn’t always okay. The days that I took a moment to calm down, acknowledge my feelings, and reassess the situations taking place I get better results of handling my situation.

Using your Journals to help with Gratitude

Writing out your feelings matter. It’s seeing the words on a notebook or journal book that does something for you.  Write in it as often or as little as you want. Do not allow others to press on your heart.

So what are you grateful for? I could list a thousand things because everyday that you wake up is a blessing. I choose to wake up and find joy into anything. Sometimes it’s hard. There are trials and tests that I don’t pass daily. I can admit that. But I am grateful for the ability that if I do mess up, I can always try again.

Let me tell you what I am grateful for:

  • Life: a few years ago I should have been gone a few times but I’m here so I’m looking forward to living
  • My kids: nothing is more important than them. They are my world and I treat them as such!
  • My husband : he irks me to no end but he’s mine and I’m grateful for the portion of being married
  • Employment: so many folks want to be working and can’t and to have the ability to gain money is a blessing
  • Blogging: the ability to enjoy what I do and be consistent in it
  • Family: I have so many awesome family members who are super supportive and caring
  • Fall coming: I can’t wait for sweaters, sweats
  • Fitness: I have a race per month the ability to run and workout I do not take for granted
  • Friendships: my circle of girlfriends have gotten so much tighter and I love them and grateful for the sister-ship

Being grateful is inner job

We put so much emphasis on making sure kids are grateful that we forget that adults we don’t mirror it all the time. It would be easy to call out others but let’s do a double check in within ourselves. Are you walking in gratitude?! Making this an ever day lifestyle. Starting your day without complaining first. Thankful for life that you are able to have. Please be mindful!

Showing Gratitude to Others

As we work on our mental health we understand that we aren’t an island. We know that the community of people in our corner and beyond matter. My husband when my kids were younger always made sure that beyond saying thank you to others when they were given things to say it to their parents too. He also modeled that behavior with me when I would in return do things. It’s important to have conversations about it. Mental health is already tough. However if you have someone willing to be a listening ear, unpaid therapist, and support system don’t take them for granted!
