Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

self care friday

Happy Friday. I hope you are attempting to have a good week. It’s hard with life in general. If you add this current tragedy it’s even worse to concentrate, take care of you, and more. So for those struggling in self care we will talk about that this week and Memorial Day weekend.

Self Care Fails Friday Reminder

There is so much grief in the atmosphere. If you have been struggling like I have been, I understand. Here are some of my self care fails for the week. I have only slept in my bed once this week. Everything else has been sleeping on the couch. I am struggling with hoping my cat, Tiki would be there. He passed this week. I haven’t eaten 3 meals per day. I may eat breakfast but no lunch.

self care friday

I may eat dinner but that is all. My eating has been all over the place. I haven’t worked out or had great movement this week. Water intake has been good. Sleep has been sporadic. I got a nap this week but then stayed up for hours because not letting peace in. I am aware so now I will take the awareness into my week next week. If you have “failed” at taking care of you, you’re not alone. Plan to do better. Rest this weekend, eat well, and get some movement.

BlogHer Health Part 1

If you missed my Part 1 of the BlogHer Health 22, it’s available. Los Angeles was truly a great time. The LA food blog will release tomorrow. It’s not extensive but it is all of the food I had while in Los Angeles. My review of the locations, links that you need and more. Be on the lookout as it is set to release tomorrow at 1130. I may release it earlier as I will be taking a day trip. BlogHer is one of those conferences that you don’t miss. Beyond the celebrities it’s more about what you take away from it. Also while in Los Angeles I did the blog on traveling hacks for mental health. It’s a good read.

My Oldest turns 13!

A whole teenager?! I am in awe of her. My daughter is one of the best kids that I have ever been around. She is the most giving person that I have know. When I had her I was 27/28 years old it was an interesting time. Being a Preacher’s Kid no matter how old you are, they (church folks) want full say in your life. I found out that I was pregnant because I thought I had a stomach virus. There was one going through my job at the time. I found out that I was pregnant. Being an adult not ready to cut ties of my parents, I was too scared to tell them. My plans were to hide it until I didn’t have to. However I was hospitalized Thanksgiving due to having Hyperemesis.  So I had to tell them immediately.

A lot of the church folks including my old Pastor told me how I was going to Hell for having this child out of wedlock. In the beginning that bothered me. I started some therapy and I realized that I needed to leave that mentality and work on being a Mother. So I disassociated myself from them, went to parenting classes, and prepared my life. However my daughter was born 6 weeks early. She was in the NICU for a week. She never missed any milestones despite having severe asthma. My daughter really defies anything thrown at her. I remind her often of how resilient that she is. So here’s to a healthy relationship with my teen daughter as she grows into an amazing young woman.

Conversations with Toi- Friday Podcast Drop

We are back with an episode. Today we talk about going viral and doing something with that moment. Do you know the amount of people who worry about likes than the message? Too many people aren’t focused on a message. They care only about what they can get from it.  Self care fails of the week are mentioned. Of course we talk about the tragedy in Texas. I also encourage others to limit their news intake. Take a listen, review, and share.

National Road Trip

Today is National Road Trip. Now I wrote this blog in 2016 and since have updated it. Yes gas is high. You may want to find ways of travel and be creative. However do not cut off all travel. If you can make it happen-do it. Have a plan. Good snacks, travel partner (which isn’t necessary) and what you listen to are important. Find a place that you have never been before. The key to travel is to have fun.

Memorial Day Weekend

It’s the unofficial Summer party. The time to let your hair down. Find something that you want to do this weekend. Take a day trip, rest, barbeque, meet up with friends, or simply catch up on an activity that’s on your to do list. As much as we like to debate things about being Freeish keep in mind that Memorial Day is about those who served. Remember them. As a military brat I will always reverence this day. I hope you do the same. We have some low key things happening this week. I will blog about it next week.

Have a great day and weekend. Happy Friday. Cheers to the long weekend. There will still be Monday Motivation. Look out for tomorrow’s blog. We may or may not have Sunday Message. Depends on how crazy my Saturday goes. However I will be going Live with ZenLux Co at 5pm on Instagram. We will be talking all about self care so tune in.
