Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Monday

Happy Monday. I hope your day is off to a good start. Today is Halloween. Halloween or not it’s all about making today what you want it to be. Keep in mind, that no matter if you celebrate Halloween or not isn’t the focus. Mondays are a day to be about making the day and week work for you.

Monday Resets

If you have been following me for awhile you are aware that resets are real. Resets allows you to gather your mindset even when you have a bad day or bad moment. For instance if you woke up this morning and your morning feels strained, you have to be able to reset. Failure to do so could cause issues in how you thrive. Thriving doesn’t mean that you have to have all of the answers. It comes down to making it through the day. Finding a way to be at your best even at times when you don’t feel your best. I am not talking about faking it until you make it. We all have used that phrase before and that doesn’t make it right. You don’t have to fake that you are sad. If you are really upset you can be honest about it. However, that doesn’t mean that your feelings can always allow you to place life on hold.

Monday

There will come times when we have to work through them. Responsibilities make it that we have to show up even when showing up is hard. How can you push through? Acknowledge what is wrong with you. If you have the opportunity to make an appointment to talk to a therapist do so. If you’re not able to do so, call your doctors and have a discussion. They may have resources to help you. Ask in our community. Often times sliding fee scale therapist or free services are available. If you are currently working, you may be able to get a few free sessions.

What are your Monday or Anyday go tos?

This is a list of things that work for you. I learned in therapy that the way to be prepared for a day that feels overwhelming is to have a plan in place. So when you are doing well and things are aligned, develop a plan. This means having things that you can fall back on when times are hard. Simple things like journal prompts that will allow you to write for 10-15 minutes or at best 5. This may help you temporarily release until you are able to find another solution. When I was at work I kept a journal next to me. This enabled me to be able to have a moment of clarity. Also if I could take a break I did my best to do it away from the job. This could be a walk outside. Anything that took me away from my desk. The more closely you take and its near your work station the more that others will ask you for things or not respect your time.

Monday

Non Negotiables of the Day

For instance today is the last day for scholarship applications for my oldest. I am only working on that and campaigns. My negotiables for the day is not adding anything on my plate outside of that. No last minute request to include things on my socials etc. Having a clear destination for today is going to allow me to focus on what is important. Not allowing others to monopolize my time is key. People can become used to what you have or what they believe you can offer. They will take from you even if it’s simply taking of your time.

Monday

Did you fuel yourself this morning? This can be done by eating, what social media you take in, or even simply having a plan for your day. We know that all plans can come with interruptions, but having a plan is helpful. Mondays are hard especially if you have been indulging in Halloween treats. I rested this weekend. There was a situation that could have ruffled me today. I refused to give it any type of hierarchy in my day. Make the most out of your Monday.

Monday

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween to all that celebrate it. Be safe. Check the kids candy and if you are like me you will be watching the Great Pumpkin!
