Self-care for a Content Creator is important. Like any job balance is key. Some of these tips can be used for all jobs. There are some of the tips that are for Content Creators. So, let’s debunk the notions that Content Creating isn’t a real job, how to create balance from being on your laptop and phone all the time, and ways to work smarter in this field.

This is a Real Job

Anyone these days can create video content. Between making it on your own or using an app, it can be done from anywhere and at any time. Content Creation as a job means that you are creating content, but also engaging with those who engage. Making a schedule and being consistent that separates the novice to the professionals. This is why it’s important to be prepared to step in this role and prepared to do the work everyday and several times a day. When you post something, you should be prepared to interact with every person.

If someone took the time to make a comment, you need to respond. Also be prepared to study the trends and use it for your niche. Then be ready to learn the hashtags and more to make the content count. This is why it’s simply more than just posting. Content Creation sometimes makes you must be “on” all the time.

How to Create balance in Content Creation

Be prepared to exercise your no muscles. Yes, you want to be invited and be on the scene, but it can be debilitating. From dressing up for every event, ubering or spending money for parking, to editing, to be present but also keeping an eye for the content, it’s a lot. I can take a plus one and their experience is different than mine who must watch for all the things. So set a standard of how many events per week or month that you go to. Remember content creation isn’t about making things from events but thigs for your niche.

Choose you. DO not and I mean do not do things that do not feel well or come with bad vibes. There are some PR that will use you and give you pennies on the dollar. This is before you start making money from Content Creation too. Be selective in what you choose. Make sure you watch the company you keep. For instance, I have people who do not ever call me to check on me but want to know when I am going to an event, they may have heard of to be my plus one. I ignore it. Honestly, I don’t even indulge it. Right from the gate it’s a no. This will be from family and friends and enemies too.

Working Smarter in Content Creation

Get a calendar. I don’t know how Content Creators who are doing this professionally or have a desire to do not have a calendar. Write things down on when you are going to post. Looking for post? Use National holiday calendars. It will give you days you can use around your niche. For happiness happens day I simply knew what day it would be and made a post. Know your posting schedule. I go in-between 1-3 posts on socials per day and one blog per day to at least five new blogs per week. This is a lot of posting. Yes, but it’s what I do.

Here are some other tips to help with balance and working smarter:

  • Take a break by making it a requirement 
  • Fuel through the day by drinking plenty of fluids and eating all meals no exceptions
  •  Set time at the end of your day to come off your phone completely even for personal reasons
  • Have off days on your calendar and do not allow events or other items to interrupt
  • Be clear in your deliverables I make companies pay for more than one edit. One edit is included but anything after that is a charge
  •  Anyone who wants rushed content-charge them for it
  •  Have an hour of downtime
  •  Make a to do list
