Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Wellness

Happy wellness Saturday. I don’t think this has in years but I have gone over a week with no new blog post. As a Content Creator I can’t get paid without content. However I worked hard for moments like this. I got the flu and it took me out. During that time I had 3 major products that helped me for the week I couldn’t blog. So let’s get into it all.

Rough Start to the Week-Wellness Fail

I knew by Sunday night after I got home from a play that I wasn’t feeling well. I plan to review the production I was at with my youngest because it was phenomenal. However, I went to the grocery store to get what I believed was the last of the Thanksgiving items. It was cold out so my youngest and I was bundled up. However, I still felt like the cold was unbearable. So after I put the groceries away I immediately went to sleep. By morning I felt like I was hit by a truck.

Monday

Monday Motivation Cancelled

I am real. I could have put something together. It was important to me for me to take care of me first. In my mind, it was a bad cold but I still went to Urgent Care since my doctor was too full for an appointment. I had planned on getting to the Urgent Care and going home to get meds and shortly after back to blogging. However it took all of my strength to drive myself to that appointment.

Wellness

I could barely drive. The results were I had the flu. It  made sense as to why I needed to be in the covers but also I was burning up with heat. So no Monday morning motivation went down. Anyone who has known me knows that I will do all I can to quickly recover. This wasn’t the case this time. I had just had a bad cold and an ear infection before that. My immune system has taken a hit. So giving myself the time to recover well is key. Also there was no podcast, episode this week either.

Cancelled Events

I cancelled all events this week. No media events and no appearances. I have one finale project due for the month that prayerfully I had already done and waiting on the final proof. This is why to all of my fellow Content Creators work ahead. Had I not I wouldn’t be able to do my best work while sick.  Knowing I had prepared for moments like this is key. Also now that December is around the corner means as soon as I am better I will finish my last projects and work on some first quarter work early is crucial to allowing me to enjoy the holidays with my family.

Thanksgiving Fun

There was none. I enjoyed my family this year. My kids helped me cook. Yes I still put together a meal because I wanted to. My husband was ready to execute a plan B. He encouraged me to sit and not cook. I wanted to cook the meal and so I did. I slept after that meal was eaten. The family cleaned up and called very limited people or texted and enjoyed some rest. I hope that your day was great.

What To Look Forward to-Wellness Push

I am still cancelling myself out maybe until next Tuesday. I want to give my body a fighting chance to truly recover. In addition I have a brand trip coming up and I want to be healthier for that. I usually do not travel in December but here we are and the excitement is brewing. Today I am back to blogging again this week so expect Sunday message and Monday Motivation to come through. I will be turning over the website to reflect holiday content. My socials have already switched over. From family oriented places to enjoy, adults over 21, staycations, and date night spots. Don’t forget to check out the Holiday Guide for mental health and self care related items.

My Wellness Ideas to Get Back on Track

Not just from getting sick but anything can knock you off of your game. So when that happens the idea of jumping right back in needs to be curtailed with reality, Here are some ways to get back into the groove and flow:

  • Take it easy-slower pace
  • Start with the most pressing thing that needs done first
  • Set time aside to eat, drink, and tend to your personal needs
  • Add in activities as your able to tolerate it
  • Take a deep breath
  • Don’t be hard on yourself to get it all done
  • Allow others to help ( I struggle with this but let it happen)
  • Increase health initiatives like fluids, vitamins and more

So happy weekend to for many was an extended weekend to travel and enjoy family and friends. I missed quite a few things but I like to think that I haven’t. What is for me is for me. Anything missed was going to be missed and I am where I am supposed to be. Don’t forget to find some things for yourself. Read a good book, journal, and more. I am taking some time to do some basic self care. For those who knew I was sick and reached out thank you. I am on the mends. Here’s to crushing this cold and flu season and staying as healthy as possible. So say yes to your wellness this week!
