Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Women are natural supporters of others. We have nurturing spirits that for the most part is a great tool to motivate those around you. It’s also a beautiful thing when your gifts can help you at the same time. Being an entrepreneur isn’t a easy task. You have to be able to see the bigger picture. Thanks to Carmella she’s not only taking hair care seriously but being a light to others along the way. Carmella is the owner of Carmella Marie, a hair care, self care brand. Carmella Marie equips women with the products they need to maintain their crown!

Self Sufficient

Being self sufficient doesn’t mean you dont need help. It’s quite the opposite. You realize how much others are an extension of yourself. Sometimes we worry especially entrepreneurs if you’re doing things right. It can be really daunting to overthink yourself. However Carmella is aware that her strength is in knowing that all she needs is inside of her. How many need that reminder today? We have what we need. All of the gifts, strategies, and experience is more than enough to start the journey. So if you’re wondering if you will be able to do what’s in your heart to do, take flight! If it’s in you to do, the backing is also inside of you to complete it.

Trusting Your Dopeness

Oh to be young again. We remember those days where you may not have as much belief in yourself. You rely on your circle of family and friends to give you the advice you believe you need. Carmella remembers those times too. She also regrets not trusting herself more. Other people projected their fears as advice. We all understand that feeling. Carmella also wishes she had asked questions when things didn’t feel or seem right. Adult advice, remember that disagreement isn’t disrespectful. Start to get comfortable being uncomfortable to challenge ideas that don’t feel settled.

Building a Brand

Before the pandemic Carmella felt she wasn’t doing the work of brand building. Brand building is work and don’t let anyone tell you differently. From finding the solution of your audience needs to supplying it effectively is no easy task. This is why not everyone is your target audience. Don’t get upset when those not in your target seem unresponsive. This includes family and friends. You didn’t build the brand for them. Continue the work for who your brand is for! Carmella admits that as the pandemic hit she had to learn the business of the business.

Here for the community

It’s no wonder that Carmella’s hustle is for the community. She wants to be a staple that when she sees someone else pushing a rock up a mountain it encourages her to stay committed and in the race. True community is about inspiration. If you’re not encouraged by those around you it may be time for a needed shift. We are not against one another. This thought that you have to bring someone else down is unnecessary. We can all eat and still be each other’s biggest fans! That is community building. Carmella is about her community!

Pain is A Reminder

The old folks had it right when they said if you can feel pain that you can get another chance to have a chance. Simply means that pain can be a reminder that you’re here to move something and do something. Carmella said the pain in her back daily reminds her that she has another day to continue to build her legacy. It’s a reminder that we don’t always get another day but if you’re blessed with one, don’t waste it. Don’t waste your days worrying about things that’s not in your power to change. Don’t waste your time losing time on people and things that really don’t hold weight on your existence or your future.

Self Care is Power

Self care is daily care. The art of knowing where you are and what you need to be all you can be. Self care is not now or has ever been selfish. We are here to be a blessing but we can’t bless from a vessel that is worn down and not replenished. Carmella loves to hike on the weekend. Albeit jogging during the week is a love/hate relationship she still finds the time to get it done. She also likes to make a honey lemon preserve that she uses in her tea. It’s off the chain! Listen I don’t know who needs to hear this but just taking time to sip tea and have a moment of clarity in itself is self care.

Set Aside Time

Carmella is also known to make a mean pound cake. We need to have a healthy relationship with food. Having a favorite dessert is a love language and self care too! She has her amazing pound cake quarterly but “Chile, once she does it’s ova!” I may personally need parts! She also sets time aside at night to write out her thoughts. This is called self reflection. It’s a great way to work out the things you didn’t have a chance to do. It’s a way to mind dump too. This also allows you time to get that rested sleep.

So Carmella we thank you for putting on for your community. For realizing that while you are building your brand and helping women love themselves through their hair care, you aren’t forgetting yourself. You’re helping women solve the problem of what they want to do with their hair and in returning perpetually reminding them to take time out for themselves. You’re shaking off the voices of others and trusting yourself. You are also walking in that divine knowledge that you are well equipped for your journey. For that we salute you! We send love to you and growth to your business, Carmella Marie!
