Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

The new exhibits at Wonderspaces is a must see. If you have been following me for awhile you know that Wonderspaces has some amazing interactive exhibits. It’s ideal for the whole family, hangouts with friends, date night, and more. We were invited to check out the new exhibits and it didn’t disappoint.

Before you go to Wonderspaces

This is an exhibit for all ages. In my opinion kids older than 5 will appreciate it a little more. You will have to sign a waiver and I highly suggest that you purchase tickets ahead of time as you will need timed tickets to attend. We attended on a Saturday night around 730pm and they close at 9pm. It was a perfect time for us to go. Snacks and drinks are available to be purchased but please bring and use your card. Do not eat or drink inside of the exhibits to protect them from spills etc.

16 Exhibits at Wonderspaces

If you love a variety of things to do and see, Wonderspaces has you covered. There are 16 different exhibits. I love the exhibits and what life the artist really brought to them. Since I have been highlighting family friendly fun this one is definitely one to attend. My kids ages for your reminder are 13, 10 and 8. They loved how interactive the exhibits were and we did too. 2 floors of exhibits and a bar for snacks and drinks to enjoy makes for a great time.

Erupture at Wonderspaces

One of the newer exhibits is called Erupture by Nicole Banowetz. It reminds me of several floating squids. It is absolutely stunning. Pure white and lots of fun. It is located on the first floor and in my mind the first display to interact with. Located across from the bar you will have so much fun playing in the room. Make sure that you watch smaller kids. It is not a jungle gym although for smaller kids they would see it that way.

Submergence

This beautiful light show is about 20 or minutes. The colors don’t just simply change but dance off of one another. It’s best when you are inside of the show. I watched the colors light up in pure beauty. Each of us seeing something different. I made sure that each of us were in different places because depending on where you were your lights were reflective of a different experience.

Rainbow Rooms

I loved this display. The colors and brightness honestly call out to you. It’s next to Submergence. We voted this as one of our top 5 displays. You can see why! Please be careful when in any room. This room as beautifully aesthetic as it is needs a little care. For instance you can place your hands through the color strings but be careful. They are delicate. This room by Pierre le Riche is his experience being a gay man in South Africa.

Akousmaflore at Wonderspaces

A hanging garden that is extremely interactive. This is one of the newer exhibits. I had been in this one and didn’t say anything to see my kids responses. It didn’t disappoint. I encouraged them to touch the plant’s leaves and immediately they screamed. Each leave with touch makes a unique sound. We laughed together at them. The more the leaves are touched the more interactive they become.

On a Human Scale

Another newer exhibit, Matthew Matthew uses a piano to showcase bringing people together through sound. Each of us took our time to play the piano and produce our own melodies. Each person in the family found their own sound. It was incredibly beautiful to see the faces of each person on display. Wouldn’t the world be best if we could simply play a song where we all connect and be one?! I used the opportunity to explain just that to the kids.

Wonderspaces

As always I never showcase all of the exhibits because with 16 of them you want to see, touch, interact, and simply be in all of them yourself. Get your ticket or consider gifting a ticket to someone you love. Experience is always a great gift ideal! Thank you to Wonderspaces for having us. We look forward to new exhibits as they come!

Newest Updates as of November 2023

There are 4 new installations at Wonderspaces. Two not shown in this blog are A Mind Sang by Vier Nev who a Portuguese artist who gives a perspective on birth and transformation. This one is beautiful but may not hold the attention of a younger artist. I took my 9-year-old and she would have left had I not taken her and had her stay a little longer. I enjoyed it. The other not shown is Fuji by Joanie Lemercier on volcanoes depicting by a layer of Fujiyama.

The newest Virtual Reality called Sphere Songs of Spacetime. This must be one of my favorite ones to date oldest of Plume. I learned so much. It held my attention along with my 9-year-old. We both loved the lights mixed in with the darkness. I think any child over the age of 5 would love this.

Plume

This is by Ian Brill. This is like sitting in kindergarten class criss cross applesauce and I loved it. This light dome will take you back to a childish moment. I went back to this one at least 3 times. The lights are amazing. The color show is captivating.

Radiance

This Infinity Box no 6 by Matt Elison. It was immersive but in a different way. It’s for 2 people to view. You get to see yourself in many angles. We loved that one and went back at least 2 times.

Wonderspaces is located inside the Fashion District Mall at 27 N. 11th street, Philadelphia PA 19107.
