Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Friday recap

Happy Friday. Oh, what a week. I feel absolutely rejuvenated. From the staycation I took which will be featured on the blog tomorrow to a crazy past weekend, I need a vacation. We are continuing the Father’s Day blogs for the week. You can see them on Facebook page. I always want to be real and honest about what fatherhood means to me. My stepdad is the only father relationship that I have. As I have gotten older learning to reconcile that relationship within myself.

Weekend Recap

It doesn’t happen that often that I would be at so many events that have alcohol but that was the weekend that I had. I balance that out by doing a lot of stepping back. It’s not that I don’t drink at home because I do but its so limited now. I didn’t follow my two-drink minimal on Sunday and paid the price of being sick. Not enough where I was out of pocket but enough. This weekend I plan to be more subdued. There are no media events this weekend and if there are some, I have cancelled myself out of them and will focus on family time instead.

I think many need to know that. When you are on my socials there is alcohol present. I drink in moderation in addition to eliminating it whenever I am amid any mental health breakdown. Alcohol is not to be mixed with any mental health medication. In this drink to be social world we forget that there are some that opt in for mocktails. I am one of them that will do this quite often. I also love nonalcoholic drinks like alcohol free beers, and I will highlight those this upcoming week too.

Friday Podcast Episode

This Friday’s episode we talk about summer breaks, vacations, and mental health. It is important to realize that sometimes even taking a break can be a form of mental health relief. Keep in mind you can’t vacation your way out of issues. The second you return life doesn’t stop. Take care of you. For instance, in our house, I still meal prep because it helps to cut down on standing over a stove all the time. Or it helps with having a more relaxed atmosphere. The kids are on a relaxed schedule. They are allowed to sleep in, go to camp, or simply not have large requirements. In exchange they have been given some more chores that coincide with areas of the house that they tend to mess up the most.

Friday recap

We are outside a little more. From walks to scooter rides, to playing at the park the use of nature to break away from phone use is big in our home. Old school play and drink some water is in effect. It also helps me as a parent to get outside as well. Remember that even 10-15 minutes outside does wonders for your mind and health. For my parents still struggling with ideas to do with your family make sure you read the summer guide I made. It will help carve out activities that you can do out or inside of the home as well. If you don’t have a summer bucket of activities get one. Add paint, and other indoor things that can help curve those bored feeling that kids seem to get.

Friday Things to Do

There is a lot to do in the city. Make sure that you do your research on what you want. If you want to enjoy brunch, I suggest the Moshulu so you can enjoy it on a boat. You can watch my recap reel of what to expect as far as food and drink options. If you are looking to take the kids to something fun this is the last weekend to see the Mermaids at Adventure Aquarium located right outside of Philadelphia in Jersey. Looking for a date night, there are a million and one amazing restaurants to enjoy or even consider going to the movies and enjoying a flick.

That is all I have for my week. Make sure you read the blogs that you may have missed:

Monday Motivation: Mental Health Check In

Kennett Summerfest: Wines and Spirit Festival 2023

My First New York Broadway Show: Moulin Rouge

Have a great weekend and I will check in with you throughout the weekend as well as there are fresh blogs coming out and new video content. For instance, my staycation this week with Fearless Restaurants comes out tomorrow. Thank you for your continued support. Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend.
