Mock-tails are a fantastic way to add into your healthy lifestyle. From the ingredients that are used to the fact that in a social setting they look like cocktails. Many people like me use mocktails as an alternative to drinking. For instance, anytime I switch over from alcohol to compensate a change in meds, take a break from drinking, or just maintaining my health, mocktails are essential and pleasant change of pace.

Mock-tails vs Cocktails

This is about personal choice and preference. One you do not need or should not need to have a cocktail to ensure you have an enjoyable time. This is something that I learned well in college. I had my first drink of alcohol when I was a sophomore. By the time I had indulged in alcohol and yes it was wrong to do before 21 I had already had my fun of friends. I could go into any party and simply be myself. I loved and still love to dance and crack jokes. I never saw alcohol as the way to loosen up. Although I would be more “loose” I never relied on alcohol to give me my amazing personality. So, if you learn especially as an adult that alcohol should be because you simple enjoy it you will be fine.

Mock-tails isn’t just for those with alcohol issues. I don’t know who started that thinking but its wrong. Just like in the selection of wine or alcohol its about choice. I simply choose to drink mocktail especially good ones because I enjoy them and not because they are a necessity.

Weight Management

When I lost a lot of weight a few years ago I learned a lot about calories in mixed cocktails. Its essentially better to drink alcohol straight vs in a mixed cocktail. By the times you had simple syrups, sodas, and juices it takes the calorie intake higher than simply having a shot of alcohol. I would limit mixed drinks to one a week and have wine or one straight shot. Again, you don’t have to count your calories you just need to understand that if you go out 3 times a week and have an average of 2 drinks a night you are adding to your lifestyle in a way that you can make small changes to the drinks that you have.

Mock-tails for Health

There are some who do a wonderful job adding things like turmeric and other components like green tea and more to their drinks. For instance, some of the places like Terrain Café do a fantastic job of adding elements to their drinks that help in a healthier lifestyle. Mocktails can have increased calories too depending on what is being added to it too. Do not think a mock-tail makes things better if a lot of elements are added. They add up just like cocktails. Noting is an issue. This is why I drink anything that I consume in moderation. A healthy lifestyle means you learn what you like, enjoy things, and eliminate when necessary. It is all about body, mind, and soul. So, what you consume in your body is just as important on what you entertain or who you are around.

Social Settings and Mock-tails

Like I stated before your use of mocktails around your friends should be without issue. I have drunk mock-tails at events. Often-it’s intentional. The reason is simple I will highlight wine and cocktails on social media often. However here is the trick that many don’t know. When I am out with a group of friends, we take the drinks and video them. Which means I could order one and each friend orders one, before we consume them, we give each drink to each person to take pics or videos. So, I rarely consume more than one drink or consume all of one drink. This is so I can drive home without being tipsy or drunk. Oftenbecause a lot of the cocktails are made with various alcohol.

Once you mix dark and light alcohol you are causing an issue. Mock-tails allow me to do what I want, enjoy the food, or my friends without being out of control. Not one time has anyone even taken notice to what I am doing or ever questioned me. We simply enjoy the time and move forward. If you have friends pressuring, you to drink you need to re-evaluate your circle. We always look out for one another in my circle.

Consider adding mocktails to your regiment. Add them for health or clarity. Mocktails are a fantastic way to be out and not consumer or over consume alcohol. I have been lately highlighting mocktails or alcohol-free beers. It is essential to balance.
