Monday affirmations

Happy Monday. We are one week away from Spring. Although we are suffering from Springing ahead, we will push through. For those who are like me who suffer from seasonal depression the clouds is clearing and soon we will be out of our mental health funk. That is not to say that depression won’t creep up because it will but this much needed break is necessary. How do we handle the change in seasons and use our time effectively.

Monday Blues

In Philadelphia the weather is dreary. We all woke up to rain and cold. There is supposed to be more severe weather on the way. Take some time to add moments of joy to your day. For instance I enjoyed making a fresh fruit salad for breakfast. In addition to my salad I enjoyed my Starbucks from home after going all weekend with no coffee. The little moments of joy is helpful in keeping the Monday morale going. Where can you create some joy? Maybe book a trip, call a friend, eat something good to you and for you, the options are endless. Create your joy moment now.

Spring Awakening

I love the Spring because it’s one step closer to Summer. With Spring I start to incorporate brighter colors, warmer air, and getting outside more. Also daylight is lasting longer into the night. I need that. A trick for those who suffer depression, open your blinds or windows to all natural light in even on rainy days. It’s an instant mood booster. In anticipation for Spring I usually shop my own closets. This is when I look for my orange which is my favorite color on me. I also incorporate yellows, and pinks too. For those who wear makeup it’s time to switch out your makeup brushes, look over makeup in general and throw old things out. If you haven’t gotten a facial schedule one. I just had one down at Heyday in  Plymouth Meeting. Use my code PMGLOWGETTER4 and its only for use at the Plymouth Meeting location.

Mental Health Assessment for Spring-Monday Affirmation

Although many will welcome Spring’s arrival it’s perfectly okay if you aren’t feeling it yet. I want you to work on your mental health all year long. Recognize when you aren’t feeling your best. Use one of your tools to help you get better. Some people do things like increase self care, therapy, or do things like infrared sauna and other self help tools. This is your life. You know what works. It’s okay to ask for and receive help. Call your doctor and talk to them about how you are feeling. Be honest with yourself first and those set to help you.

Monday Affirmation

I had a long talk with my kids about affirmations. Affirmations aren’t only for adults. We talked about what an affirmation is. It’s a compliment to yourself and encouragement that you may need during the day. I have been encouraging them to start their day with one in the mirror while they are getting ready. I also have some affirmations on their door when they wake up as well. The kids and I say our prayers together when in the car no matter what parent takes them to school. Sometimes life is throwing so many blows that we forget to encourage ourselves. Yes you can. I will set the tone for my day. Here are some affirmations to get you started:

  • I am wonderfully made to do all that has been given to me
  • The resources I need are within me
  • I can handle the hard things
  • Nothing that is for me will be held up
  • I can do anything that I put my mind to
  • Walking in light today because I am a light

These are just some. Use these and add a whole lot more. I encourage you all to start thinking about the next season. Some of us have been hit hard this Winter. From failures and challenges we may be feeling like our balloon are deflated. Let’s start to pick ourselves up and do the work we are called to do in all areas of our life. I believe in you. You got this! Happy Monday.
