Everyone is standing on business this week. Let’s talk about it. On TikTok there has been a new phrase going around and its “standing on business.” The premise is that instead of letting people “play in your face” or mistreat you etc you will stand on business. It also means handling your business and being cleat on your intentions by not backing down.

Are People Using Standing on Business Correctly

The premise makes all the sense in the world. To stand on business and handle your affairs makes sense. In essence we all should be standing on business in every area of our life. However, with this new phrase will people do it or use it just as the newest phrase to say. I am torn in the middle but want to lean more on the newest phrase. Here’s why? Often, we know what we need to do. We allow people to do all kinds of things to us. We rarely speak up or if we do make tend to back pedal. If you were standing on business, you would be doing this as often as possible as a general way of making others respect you as you respect yourself.

Respecting Yourself and Others

Over the weekend TI and his son, King got into a verbal altercation. He was going live when it happened. Everyone loves to go live to share drama. Either way we don’t know what was being said, what led up to the disagreement, or what the outcome is. King yelled that he’s standing on business. This was to let his dad and whomever else know that he meant what he said. Regardless of what is going on I am the firm believer in respect to yourself and others. Just because TI is his dad, that doesn’t mean he’s above acting respectfully as well as King.

Respecting yourself will allow you to place boundaries in areas of your life that need it. This means not going back and forth with an ex when you know they don’t mean you well. Standing on business on how you go to work, do a great job, and handle your affairs. In addition, standing on business in your interpersonal relationships too. Not allowing people to handle you emotionally any type of way. When you set a boundary that starts with respect it’s hard for others to trample that.

Handling your Business

This is a way of life. I found my case that I used as a teenager that my dad gave me. It was well organized. In it was bills paid, important documents including one of my childhood military identifications. As a kid I hated how organized I was because I was one of the few who was as I was as a kid. But as I got older it helped me to know how to organize and keep a schedule when it comes to the many hats I wear in life. I appreciate what my parents taught me when it comes to handling your affairs. It is important to be established in how you handle things.

Standing on Business and Mistakes or Shortcomings

So now that we talked about respect for self, others, and more let’s talk mistakes and shortcomings. Some of the things that we call mistakes are often just us walking outside of the realm of being on top of things. We willingly find ourselves in situations by default of not being where we need to be. So, mistakes whether direct or indirect will occur. You can “stand on business” and be in a pitfall. However, we must learn to call a spade, a spade when it comes to our lifestyle choices. I for one know for a fact that many failures I have had. Some were willingly and some thing I got caught up on. All of it could have had a better outcome had I been paying attention and honoring myself.

So, no matter where you are standing on business. Do not let it be something to say but a way of life. Handle your affairs, take responsibility and accountability for the choices you exude, and respect yourself and others too.
