Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

What’s a balanced life look like? It’s definitely not chaotic all the time. It’s not filled with drama and unnecessary fillers all the time either. Sometimes life mirrors those things until they balance. What I think is balanced might look off to another person. So let’s help you to define your personal balance and apply those checks and balances to your daily life. Remember balance will look different for everyone but we all have some areas we need to align. Let’s explore just a few of them!

Balancing Ourselves From the Inside Out

Nothing in life that we do is going to amount to much without checking ourselves from the inside out. So many people want to jump to the outside but forget their mental and emotional state matters. I would like to think it actually is the part that is the most important. If you’re mind and heart is messed up there’s no way you will function in what would appear to be a balanced life.

Heart Check-Aligning with Purpose Matters

Are you operating from a place that your heart is full? This means living a life that you truly desire. When I was living on everyone else’s expectations it was hard to maintain. I couldn’t fully tap into the life I needed because I was consumed with keeping with a persona so I would not disappoint. In life you will disappoint many make sure the first person you don’t disappoint is yourself. This is why it’s important to have daily check-ins. Ask yourself if you’re proud of the decisions you are making. Be clear that your heart is in what you are attempting to accomplish.

Emotional Roller Coasters Ending the Trauma

We checked our heart to make sure we are in aligned but what about the emotions of it all. The heart is attached to our emotional pulls but we need to make sure that we end daily traumas. Remember the goal is to be balanced. We don’t get that our emotions are trying to communicate. Think of a time when a child that is crying, it’s communicating something is wrong or there is a need. When you’re “acting out” or see someone else is doing the same it’s a form of communication. Mature people recognize it and don’t meet the emotional outburst with an emotional response. However I’ve been so overcome in many situations that I too have forgotten the lesson. If you’re in a situation where you’re hollering, experiencing heartache, angry, etc. sometimes the trauma that we don’t deal with is coming to the surface. Therapy helps with balancing the mind. It helps to get you on track and deal with trauma!

How do we check ourselves to build a balanced life?

It’s not easy. Dealing with your heart, checking your emotions, as well as understanding why you’re responding daily to life is an up and down battle. There are days you will get it right and some you won’t! Each day setting a task for what you want matters. We can’t simply exist and allow the days, weeks, and months to just happen. Balance in life starts with having purpose in your day. You can write out a to do list, organize your thoughts on paper, or simply use an app like the Habit Tracker!

Cleaning up your Environment to Create Balance

As we organize our mindsets and check our heart we will find it easier to clean up our acts. We need to start with our homes and environment. What clutter needs to be thrown away? Start there. Get rid of the things that no longer fit, use, or have need of. Make a plan to clean them up and donate to someone else. Get rid of trash, dust, and wipe down surfaces. Cleaning especially when you want to organize your life is therapeutic. Trust me! Sometimes it takes hours but the reward is great. Nothing is better than looking at a clean home with clear sections to represent the cleaning you’re doing on the inside. It’s freeing! Oh and you may want to clean up who you’re around too.

Changing the Environment Helps to Organize Life

Yes not everyone can pack up and move but don’t despise it. If you’re looking to move altogether consider a few things before doing so. If you’re not going to deal with you first moving is simply an address change. I know so many people who moved to “get away” and still live with the same things and people they supposedly moved away for! You can’t move without working through the issues. This is the same principle in dating and marrying the same man or woman. If you’re not ready to have an authentic conversation with yourself about your needs and do some soul searching you can end up with the same person multiple times in life.

What you Eat Matters

So it’s a lot to do the work from the inside out and what you eat matters. There’s so many other areas like organizing your pantry and refrigerator to feed your body is another way to organize your life. This helps you eat with purpose. If you don’t buy the foods you don’t need, you can’t consume them. The person to be mad at is you when you’re constantly eating the wrong things. It starts with a check up and blood drawn with your doctor. This gets the conversations moving in the right direction. You want to know how your body is really functioning. You may need to talk to a nutritionist. Many are not aware their insurance carriers provide one. FYI everything in moderation. So fruits and veggies and that piece of cake is fine too!

All in life, organizing starts from the top down. Mental health being a top priority will kick start the other areas into a more healthier lifestyle. It will make the areas of life easier to maintain. It’s not about perfection as much as it’s about doing what you can to live as well as you can!
