Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday. I hope you are having a good week! So with that being said today is the midweek check in! What has been working for you? Do more of that. What needs improvement in your daily care? Eliminate or do less of it.

High School Check-In

So we are getting much closer to a high school decision. My oldest has done personal shadow days and more. Right now is scholarship interviews. They are a lot. One thing I and my husband are doing is checking in with her. Asking her questions. Adding extra self care time for her. The notion that kids don’t deal with stress is wrong. They do. They have anxiety just like the rest of us. So let’s check in with our kids mental health as well as our own.

King of Christmas

If you love Christmas like I love it and are looking for ways to spruce up your home and office than King of Christmas is where you should start. King of Christmas is the holy grail for Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. They sent me their 4 piece Queen Flock set and its stunning. It’s well lit and makes the house look so good. Now I am only revealing this part of the collaboration but trust me everyday that I come home I love seeing how much it takes my living room to another level. They are having their holiday sale for Veterans Day.

Self Care Wednesday Reminder

I was sick over the weekend. I mean full blown cold. Ever since I had an ear infection a few weeks ago, my immune system has gone to Hell. I will take accountability for it due to me not taking my vitamins the way that I should. So I am on the path while increasing my workouts to take care of myself better. I finally went and got my nails and hair done and for some that may sound vain. However it’s not for me. It’s about enjoying those luxuries and getting back to feeling like myself. I told my husband how I felt like a new woman just with those two appointments. Do I need to have them done? No. Do I enjoy them? Absolutely I do. So thank goodness for being back in my element.

Wednesday

Another form of self care was being vigilant about saying no. My time has been pushed. Between date nights, family time, media events, and me time the lines can get crossed. So my NO muscles are strong. Saying NO and nothing else, has been amazing for me.

Blogs you May Have Missed

I have been back to my blog a thon. I may need to find a new word for it. At the end of the day, consistency is what I try to bring. Blogging is my passion. So with that being said, here are what you missed.

Wednesday Thoughts

This particular Wednesday I had to call a few folks in my life to really get perspective on whether or not I was off beat on my thoughts when it came to something that happens. I was triggered this week by actions of someone that I know. It made me think about the changes that I made a few years ago. Sometimes I feel like changing doesn’t always mean that things will go the way that I want it. So if you are struggling with people I get it. The holidays are a trigger for me. It’s a reminder of having to separate. Also I think about the lack of relationship I have with my biological father and his family. With the ups and downs of my relationship with family in general the holidays are hard. Whether by choice or by chance the concept of what family is supposed to look like isn’t clear to me.

Wednesday

In my imagination it would look welcoming. Family would be supportive. Arguments would be handled quickly. However in the real world that hasn’t been my experience. I felt like I have had to question loyalty. Question what love looks like. How do you trust others after being hurt. So these are things that come up during the holidays. I had to learn that it’s okay to feel that way. To love on all but be selective with who I allow in my space. To not cut off love or disassociate myself totally unless it was necessary for personal peace. You can listen to some help on the podcast about the holidays.

So hopefully this Wednesday your week is off to a good start. If not you have the ability to recover it.
