Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Pop Up

When was the last time you went to a Pop Up Shop? They are wonderful. Curated items that are usually the best seller items. All in which support small business owners, and the local economy. I am introducing you to 4 companies who have combined forces together. They are Franklin and Whitman, The Tiny Jeweler, Echo Metals, and Remark Glass. Collectively they provide a one stop shop of goods ranging from glassware to jewelry to personal care goods. Individually they are reducing waste and upcycling items and turning them into beautiful pieces.

Franklin and Whitman

You may remember me covering Franklin and Whitman before. I went to an event in the Summer with them as an introduction to their products. They are the self care and personal care products that you need. I have their serums. cuticle oils, facial cleansers and more. They also have an array of beautiful candles and more. These products help to supply an instant self care moment at home. This weekend I plan to use my at home steamer accompanied by the scents of some essentials scents and their clay mask. If you missed my cuticle oil tutorial make sure you watch it.

Beyond their products which are vegan and cruelty free they are about giving back to their core. Some companies say that but don’t really live it. Where they are housed is inside of the Bok Building. The Pop Up is located at 821 Dudley Street that houses the other companies in today’s blog as well. That building alone is an old school that has been turned into a building that supports many small businesses. From the upcycle of many of the items that were in the original school, you will love and see the history at every turn.

Franklin and Whitman’s Give Back

If you love dogs every sale that they complete a portion of the sale goes to Dog rescue companies. This is helpful in making sure that dogs that need good homes have the support that they need. Even if you wanted to adopt and money was a barrier the owner, Chris has pledged to do what he can to help cover adoption fees. They work and do several pops up with local shelters throughout the city. This is where I took that Pups and Pilates class that almost took me out. I have built a great relationship with the company and I truly stand with them. It’s not often that I can say that. So whether you shop them at their Pop Up or online-support them.

The Tiny Jeweler

One of the first questions I asked, Maricha Genovese what was her passion behind her jewelry pieces immediately her face lit up. This is a sign that someone loves what they do. She explained that a lot of her pieces come from the inspiration from nature. When you think about the ways in which nature really is a healing place it all makes sense. If this is your first time reading this blog then welcome. Nature has always been encouraged as a way to help in self care. Sitting or walking outside to simply exist has a way of calming the mind and more. So I wasn’t shocked by the way nature inspired the intricate details of her pieces. Her favorite piece was the Sunflower ring. Any of the pieces that incorporates the sunflower to be honest. The sunflower in nature has always been a reflection of happiness and peace.

Shop The Pieces

If you go to any Fall fest, you will see them shown in many pieces. Her sunflower ring took the sunflower and each delicate petal carefully orchestrated in them is a beauty to see. Maricha has been in the jewelry business for over 10 years. As of recently she received a grant and used it to learn engraving. Her engraving skills are woven into many pieces. The patience and calm it takes to allow the process to happen. She is part of the Pop Up but also has a studio where she creates in the Bok Building too. These pieces are sure to make someone’s day or special occasion. Shop her pieces which are ready to take home immediately or order online at her shop. I love that her pieces are made with intention as it encourages us to go back to nature and learn a few lessons.

Echo Metals

Love metal jewelry? Not all metal is made or cared for the same. Plated metal is like placing paint over the metal and calling it pure when its not. With Echo Metals you are getting pure metals that are made with love.  These bold and beautiful pieces of fine jewelry are hand made and crafted for the person who isn’t afraid to rock unique pieces. A true metalsmith, Kaitlin Kerr is excited for what she does. I enjoyed speaking to her while she educated me on some of her processes. These pieces will work for those who not only loves styles but are conscience of the purchase that they are making. This jewelry is a mix of structure and boldness that I love.

Shop the Pieces

A lot of the colors are organically beautiful. Whether you want a small piece or something that is seen as you walk into the room, you will not be disappointed. Kaitlin is passionate about what her pieces mean to her as they are sold to the buyer. Her techniques although traditional are anything but traditional in their final composition. Purchase the pieces at the Pop Up or online.

Remark Glass

Drink wine or use other glassware? Remark  Glass takes the used glass and turns into home treasures. The upcycling is absolutely stunning. I was impressed as soon as I walked into the Pop Up. The colors used on the finished pieces are stunning. Remark Glass is a blown glass studio. Local restaurants and more take their wine bottles to be upcycled. Think about in these terms: glass is recyclable but many don’t recycle them. Something so simple as recycling a bottle is sitting in landfills all over the world. Let’s say you have a celebration and you have some amazing bottles of wine to celebrate. Take those wine bottles and have them made into wine glasses that you keep forever.

Bottle Underground

I purchased some for someone special on my holiday list so I can’t wait to see what they have to say. Bottle Underground which is their non profit is one way that they can educate and help keep bottles out of the landfill. You can do your part. Please set your glass (please rinse first) aside and donate them. You can schedule a drop off, or schedule a monthly pick up. This means you pay a small fee to have the bottles picked up. They currently have a few bottle types heavy in demand: yogurt, baby food jars, Rosé and other clear wine bottles, cobalt or other colored bottles. If you have these items consider schedule to drop them off. Also you can always donate.

So you have 4 passionate companies in one place serving the local community. Each comes together to support one another. Each of them unique and understand their why. It’s something that I have been saying for years, when you know your why nothing can stop you from making an impact in this world. Thank you for having me and treating me with the utmost respect. May each business thrive beyond expectations.
