Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Nothing is better than Christmas like a comedy show. A Christmas Carol Comedy by Hedgerow Theatre is happening for their last show tonight at 7pm. Enjoy the a Christmas Carol unlike anything you have ever seen before.

Before you Go to Christmas Carol Comedy

Hedgerow Theatre is located at 64 Rose Valley, Media PA. The road that the theater is on especially in the dark can feel like you may miss it. Once your GPS tells you you’re close-slow down. The theatre sign is well lit with a purple sign. There is plenty of parking in front of the theatre. Allot about 15-30 minutes before the show to get to your seats. The staff is extremely accommodating. The show is about a little over an hour with no intermission. So plan to be on time so you don’t miss anything. If you’re late staff will seat you in the opening seats in the back.

There are opportunities for crowd participation, however not mandatory.

Comedic Timing in A Christmas Story

Although by now we have all heard the story of a tight pocketed and mean spirited Ebenezer Scrooge. He gets visited by 3 ghosts who show him the error of his ways. From seeing people as human and softening his heart, Scrooge makes a turn and helps out those he once despised. Christopher Patrick Mullen who plays every single role outside of Scrooge is hands down funny. He entertains by adding elements of movies, television show stars and more into the production. He’s genius and I was impressed by his acting. He naturally switched between roles without leaving the audience confused.

Sarah Stryker as Scrooge

Sarah brings her A game to the depiction of Scrooge. Both Sarah and Christopher’s on stage chemistry is perfection. Both of them leaning on one another as they draw out their acting skills is one of the best I’ve seen. Expect to laugh as both actor/actresses act out the way our modern mind imagined the journey that Scrooge would have went.

Show for All

Like most things the show is for all ages although a few adult phrases may go over a child’s head. There were two younger kids at the show. At times when adults understood an actor that was being depicted or a saying that they didn’t catch, it wasn’t so overt that it took away from the underlying theme being described. You still walk away with the sense of what A Christmas Carol was meant to do-encourage better behavior and thoughts around others during the holidays and beyond.

Take Aways in A Christmas Carol Comedy

The Director, Pete Pryor along with the Playwright took the essence of A Christmas Carol and condensed it into the meat and potatoes that you need. Instead of focusing on making the story come alive with overly used production, Hedgerow focused more on the storytelling portion which is appreciated. It’s not “another” story we have seen done a million and one times. The joy and laughter that many of us need during this time of year was on display!

A Christmas Carol Comedy

Set of A Christmas Carol

As simple as A Christmas Carol was I really enjoyed the ghost screen I’ll call it. It really added the element that would help to make the story come to life.

Thank you to the entire staff and actor, actress of Hedgerow Theatre as well as Perpetual Motion PR for having me. Unfortunately due to my schedule I wasn’t able to review this earlier in their season. The last show is tonight at 7pm. Get your tickets now!

*Benjamin Brown is pictured as Scrooge for the performances while Sarah Stryker played Scrooge Christmas weekend.
