Easter

Easter is always about reverence, family, and fun! This year that is being tested with Covid-19! Families aren’t or should I say not supposed to be coming together who don’t live in the same house. With that being said Easter is super different! It doesn’t look like what we are used to at all.

Peaceful Easter Start

For those who usually attend services and having to now attend via online as we have been for quite some time is a huge change. For me if I’m honest I don’t like attending Easter services on the regular, because it’s so full of people and it’s too much for me. So being able to attend via sweatpants without all of the fuss was a welcoming way. I actually ended up not even watching with my family. I decided to pray and listened to gospel music because it was worked for me personally. My family enjoyed service online and the house was peaceful and that’s all I could ask for!

Being Prepared

I cooked dinner too as I usually do unless we are traveling or with family in years past. So since we are practicing social distancing the night before we colored Easter eggs. We had a lot of fun with watching the kids’ creativity. My husband went and did grocery shopping for the next few weeks and I ordered Easter items 2.5 weeks ago to be prepared. Shout out to Target and Five Below! They didn’t get my order fully but it was close enough! I was able to make baskets for my kids and continue some of the traditions we originally would have had we not been in social distancing!

I want to give my kids the biggest shout out!! They have been managing this like champs! To have3 kids under the age of 10 pushing through makes me push through. No one thinks this is ideal. However as I explained to the kids their safety is my number one goal! So for me as I’ve always done with looking ahead I will do the same to see what can I do to help the kids have whatever slice of normalcy they possibly can!

Easter Egg Hunt

We allowed the kids to do an Easter Egg Hunt. It was simple and small and enough for them to get fresh air in front of the yard! No one complained at the lack of hiding spots! No one was upset over the fact that it wasn’t as big as it was in past years. They never mentioned it. They just grabbed as many as they could and had fun. Kids really do well with adjusting at times especially when you have their environment right! I want them to look back at all of this and pay attention to the increases play time as time that we made memories not feeling like they were yelled at or frustrated the most!

FaceTime

We were able to use apps to talk to loved ones! It felt good although not complete to have some form of communication. It’s always nice when you can see someone and make sure they are good. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to use technology for what it’s made for. Also for the family who didn’t have an iPhone we used Google Duo which works in the same way but is an app. I like to use Zoom for work purposes unless it’s for my kids to talk to their class or teachers!

So no we didn’t dress up or even wear our signature t-shirts. The T-shirt was only because of Target messing up the order FYI! We didn’t have the bunny paws that I normally put out because I couldn’t find them and I wasn’t going to the Dollar Store to get them when it wasn’t essential to sustaining life. We didn’t eat with extended family or have any Easter cake or Cupcakes because I didn’t feel like making it or ordering one. However we were together healthy, loved, and at peace with sugared up candy so it was a win!

How was your Easter? Hopefully a great one! I let the kids be kids and enjoy their day just as much as I wanted to do the same! Peace on Easter is remembering what it’s all about and counting our blessings even in mismatched pajamas and full bellies! Enjoy your day!
