My One‑Day Adult‑Only Dash Through EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival

I want to talk about enjoying the quickest trip to Disney’s Epcot. Now the plans were in place a little while ago, but I had to revamp them when my plans changed. My speaking engagement for Philly Influencer Mixer was at the same time. For me to do that I had to be willing to come in and out of Epcot in a matter of a day. Many others have done Epcot in 24 hours, so this is not something new. You must ask yourself what is important. For me it was the memories. So here are my tips and tricks to make the quickest trip work.

Planner to Spontaneous

The way in which I could pull this off had a lot to do with adult money, but the other part is having amazing people in my team. For instance, I have a girl who can make custom t-shirts in a day. Then my husband is a trooper. I prepared some meals for the family, and it was nothing to do but pack a bookbag. I ordered some quick gifts from Croc and some personal hygiene products from Amazon, and I was on my way.

How to Epcot especially for the Food and Wine Festival

I can’t be the only one who saw multiple videos of adults drinking their way through the countries and being drunk or vomiting. I am too old to land on a video as such. So, a few days before I left I double hydrated. This means I drank my weight in water and made sure 3 times a day leading up to my departure I drank Liquid IV. At this point they need to sponsor me.  While in Epcot I drank water in between the cocktails, ate, as well as more Liquid IV. The point is that water is your friend. Not one time did I get sick or have a headache later. 

Too many drinks to choose from is an issue too. So, get the ones you think you will like. My best friend and I also split the drinks. We switched out on who paid and added them to a portable cup. The cup flattened down in our Mickey Mouse Croc bag. Grab them both.

Can you survive Epcot from opening to closing?

The answer is yes; you can. We got there at opening and left at closing. Our hotel allowed us to come before the regular opening. However, the issue was that the night before we were up talking and drinking wine so there’s that. However, 12 hours in the park is do able, you must know your limit. 

We started off strong in Mexico which if you ask social media Mexico is the worst part to start due to the strength of the cocktails. We ate a full heavy meal there and that was after one ride. If you don’t have a fast pass go on the rides as a single rider. At midday make sure you get a light snack unless you are already eating at all the countries. Take breaks. Instead of fast eating and drinking sit down. Take the moment and talk. That is what we did.

A few more last tips

Pack what you need but do not overpack.  This means that you don’t need anything but the basics. Sunscreen, Liquid IV, sunglasses, poncho or umbrella, money, battery pack for cell phone use, hand sanitizer, lotion, tissues, and any medication you may need including Tylenol or Ibuprofen. No matter what you need, you also need to make sure you wear super comfortable shoes for walking.

The fun of it all

Life is meant to be lived. Sometimes adults life gets in the way. We don’t think about being spontaneous because of the fear of the unknown. Honestly too I have been working my butt off from campaigns and in the middle of election season there is so much happening. However, I love to travel. Packing a book bag not only saved me in baggage fees but it made me only bring what I needed, and it was manageable.

If you fly in or out of MCO (Orlando’s Aiport) use MCO Reserve. This will be necessary for leaving. If you have ever gone to MCO you know that the airport can be a nightmare. Using MCO Reserve will allow if you don’t have Clear or other airport security the opportunity to get in and out of security in a matter of minutes.

Here’s to many more quick trips. Will I go back to Disney soon? Absolutely. Now that I am aware of the ability to do it, who knows maybe a date day in the park is exactly what I need.
