Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Ugly Sweater Day

Happy Friday and Cheers to the weekend. What a long week. It was stressful to say the least. With that in mind let’s talk about some of the media events that took place and some self care. This week we lost a legend, Stephen tWitch Boss due to suicide.

Friday Joys

This Friday my simple joy is getting to Friday. The experts say that you shouldn’t wait for a Friday to come. However in life there are some weeks that are harder than some. This was this week. I was overwhelmed with emotions. Too much had taken place. So I focused on maintaining my mindset and more. So for many of us we may have felt that this week. So yes although it’s not okay to focus on Friday, or a vacation, or whatever makes you happy temporarily or provides a relief-life happens.

Mental Health and tWitch Boss

I was floored. I recorded the podcast with 2 guests this week in anticipation of the holidays with guests. During the first interview an alert came on my phone. I usually do not have my phone in plain view so that I can record without distraction. But I felt my heart burst when I saw tWitch dead at 40. I finished the interview and immediately went to CNN to confirm. There as a picture of tWitch and it made me sit down. I couldn’t believe what I had read. Earlier I had a conversation with my husband about therapy. I called him to see if he had seen the news and he hadn’t. Coming off the lost of Jason David Frank this was a lot.

Friday recap

We may never know why or what could have caused tWitch to take his life. My heart goes out to his wife and children. They will be forever changed. The holidays will take on another meaning. I pray a hedge of protection over their hearts and minds during this hard time. Mental health doesn’t have a certain look. Too many have unimaginable pain in their hearts. Please know you life matters even when it feels like giving up is the only answer. Please dial 988 to talk to someone. Already seeing a therapist? Make an appointment now to talk to someone.

My stay at the Millennium Biltmore was nice too including an upgrade to a bigger room. Now as we head into the New Year soon-I am working on my travel schedule including a staycation coming soon for our whole family. LA3C will be announcing their new line up for 2023 soon. So make sure you follow along and book those VIP tickets.

Conversations with Toi Podcast Friday Drop

Another Friday is upon us. With that being said, we talk all things mental health and holidays on today’s episode. As we highlight tWitch and those who in the last year have committed suicide let’s also talk about the realness of life. We are all doing our best. Sometimes our best feels like not enough. I interview Mike Brown.

Who is Mike Brown?

Mike Brown(Blue Man)has been Blue for over a decade and a half. It has all been a dream come true for Mike. His hometown is Boston, Massachusetts where he has the incredible honor of working and performing with all the talented people at The Charles Playhouse. He has also had the amazing good fortune of performing in New York, Chicago, Orlando, internationally in Berlin and Oberhausen, Germany, on the beautiful Epic of Norwegian Cruise Lines, two previous National Tours and is now absolutely thrilled to be on BMG’s brand-new North American Tour. For him,all these opportunities leave him just… speechless.

Blue Man Group Friday

He would not be here without the love and support of his family and friends. He is grateful for you all! Some of Mike’s favorite hobbies include playing board games, watching Monster House, drumming for Crash Smash Explode and ghostbusting. He hopes you all enjoy the show and that you each get a chance to pick up a good book this summer.

Conversations with Toi Friday Podcast

In addition to mental health we switch gears to a little laughter and cheer as we talk about the Blue Man Group that is performing their whole new show in Philadelphia on December 27-31st at the Kimmel Center. The Blue Man Group is one of the most infamous Vegas Shows. They have shows all over. This particular showing is all new. Expect loud music, strobe lights, and more. Kimmel recommends the show for ages 5 and up but parents are ultimately the one that can make the final call. Come and experience a show like no other. Tickets are available now.

Flight on Ice Christmas Tree Lighting

This week I attended the Flight on Ice Christmas Tree lighting. They had ice skating available. Anyone who knows me is aware that me and my ankles need to stay fully intact. I have never been able to be on roller blades. However I enjoyed watching the Flight on Ice skaters. Families and kids of all ages enjoyed. In addition one of the most important parts of the skating rink is that they support Veterans. So make sure if you are in the area for the holidays that you grab your family and friends and enjoy skating for the season. There is also opportunities for food and drinks both spirited and non spirited. Lastly enjoy s’mores by the fireplace.

Soulful Christmas Friday Heart Check

I attended the Soulful Christmas event at the Kimmel Center. It was magical. They also honored gospel recording artist, Kurt Carr. I remember when I was 16 when he came out. I am not 41 and that was 25 years ago. His songs, “The presence of the Lord” and “We lift our Hands in the Sanctuary” are still my favorites. In addition to honoring Kurt was having priests and pastors from the city come together with a preached word before each singing number. It was uplifting and beautiful. If you weren’t able to attend no worries, on Christmas Day, tune into WURD 96.1 FM at 8am and Classic 107.9 and Praise Philly 107.9 HDS from 7-11pm will broadcast it.

Friday recap

Welp that is all. Can I gift myself a gift for finally getting 50% of my shopping done? No! Well if you want you can always support me with a donation. Happy Ugly Sweater Day too.
