Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I hope your week was the most amazing possible. With that being said unlike the many weeks before this was a heavy media week. From Galentine’s Day events and Super Bowl weekend on the rise. There are some amazing things to do in or near Philadelphia this weekend too.
African American Children’s Book Fair
This past weekend I went to the African American Children’s Book Fair. I actually do the social’s for the organization. A lot of people learned that over the weekend. I love helping this organization help get out the word that there are amazing African American Children’s authors. When I was a kid english was my favorite subject. However there weren’t many characters that looked like me. It never discouraged me to read in the least bit. However my kids are able to see the great amount of authors who write stories with characters that look like them. Reading is a great and necessary tool. Getting kids interested in reading is always the goal. If you weren’t able to go, consider checking them out and purchasing a few of the books from the authors present.
Husband’s Birthday Weekend
This past weekend we celebrated my husband’s 43rd birthday. We had an amazing time. From our staycation at the Marriott Courtyard to see David Hollister to a great dinner at Emei. I wanted to make sure to show my husband the appreciation he was definitely deserving of. Some of the things that my husband loves to do is celebrate the whole month. Now he can celebrate with his friends. We decorated the house and made sure we got him gifts that were unique to him. Like parents, when we get things we still find ways to give to our children.
Takumi Bistro & Bar
I went to an amazing sushi restaurant in Wayne Pa. This is about less than 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. A few highlights:
- Fresh sushi
- Amazing presentation
- Beautifully aesthetic restaurant
- Great Cocktails
- Good service
We attended a Galentine’s Day event with Neff Knows. While we waited to be be served we also made cards. I ended up giving it to one of the besties. It was nice to do a handwritten card for someone. I actually keep blank cards in my house. Every month I make it my business to send a card to at least one friend. I encourage you to do the same. The reason is simple-make someone’s day. We get enough bills and mail we don’t want.
Galentine’s Day at the Moshulu Friday Review
Another Galentine’s Day event in the books with Fearless Restaurants. They had two floors of vendors, drinks, bites, and some great vibes. Huge shout out to Moments by Max with the biggest heart balloon display. It was good to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen in a long while. If you haven’t dined on the Moshulu you are missing out. I had my Blogiversary there 2 years ago. The food is absolutely delicious. This is a great place to go to celebrate birthdays and other celebrations.
