Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Monday! No one likes bad news. I am no exception. I spoke about my stress last week in the podcast. Also I talked about this uneasy feeling and anxiety I had. Now I feel like that 4am wake up I was experiencing was warning me about what was to come.

To Lock It Down

Today Philadelphia will find out if we will be on a lock down. Our numbers have gone up. A lot of people are blaming the celebrations of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris projected win. Some are blaming the lack of consideration for events held during Halloween and beyond. Playing the blame game won’t stop what it is about to come today. Will we experience a lock down like we had in March? Some say it will be close to it.

Anxiety Levels Increasing

Peoples livelihood is at stack and so are lives. Balancing both isn’t an easy task. Businesses have already had no choice to close down. People have lost loved ones. This lock down whatever it will look like is coming at the time of the year that is already filled with sadness. Anxiety has increased across the board. I can’t be the only one feeling this pinch.

Monday Healthy Lifestyle Moment

I’ve been keeping my family healthy by making sure we not only wash our hands, limiting time around others we don’t live with, but also by making sure we have the vitamins and supplements we need. It’s important to make sure there are no gaps. Any regiment you add always make sure you have the support of your doctors. Increasing water intake as well as attempting to eat a healthy and balanced meal is important too. Decreasing as much as possible as you can wine and alcohol. I would be lying to say I don’t drink but balancing the amount of drinks I have has kept me from going off the deep end!

Home Safely and Not Locked in the House

This was a hard concept that I kept getting wrong the first time. I kept saying we were locked in the house. My husband has been the one changing the perspective to show that we are safely at home. It’s been getting easier to see the difference as we have rallied together to keep each other’s spirit lifted! As the day gets closer and closer to the announcement I will do all I can to remember that being safe is the end game.

Deep Breaths

This is what I will be doing today! The proposed lock down won’t change my how my family moves! We have been popping our heads out of the house but not on the level that we will be disadvantaged by it. However many businesses I support and align with will be potentially crushed. Thinking of them beyond just their location but in the perspective that the owners have families to support.

Valid Feelings-Monday Reassurance

So will today be hard? Absolutely! I do hate when people try to minimize how someone in the midst of a trial should feel. Today don’t entertain it. If you’re feeling sad today, it’s okay. Don’t let someone tell you your feelings aren’t valid. If you need to disconnect, do so! If holding your loved ones tight do so! The lack of seeing family or friends will hurt! You’re human and entitled to be just that-human! If you have been lonely in this season, the increased loneliness may not help.

What can we do?

Continue to be vigilant about limiting who you’re around when not with those you live with!

Wash your hands and wear your mask whenever you are around others you don’t live with

Look out for others-go to the store for those in your community who can’t.

Take daily check-ins. This is a time to be honest with where you are, reach out to those who you can talk to, and dig deep whether with therapy, faith. or both

Call and FaceTime your loved ones often. Be creative with communication. We just sent a few cards to family and friends for Thanksgiving!

Monday

Today is a hard day for Philly and America to be honest. I wish I could wrap my arms around each and everyone of you! The amount of tears shed during this season has been a lot! Let’s stand in love! Let’s band together! My heart is standing in love and faith! Happy Monday!
