Now if you don’t want the kids staying up past midnight like my kids do that’s totally fine. There’s way to get the kids into full fledge New Year fun. Here’s how:

Make It A New Year Party

Yes you can still have a party and do it with a countdown. Just like you would as an adult with snacks and bubbly make it kid approved! This means a few of their favorite foods. A fun snack you can make together always helps. Also a little sparkling apple cider makes kids get right into the fun without the fuss. Put the same amount of energy you would into an adult party into a kid party. Balloons, themed accessories, etc.

Pin it for later

Pick a Theme for the New Year

A themed dinner or themed snacks are always a great way for kids to get into the action. Don’t over think it. Finger foods like chicken fingers, pizza, pizza bites, etc. is easy to make. I would have a favorite saying. Our family tagline is #whatsinstorrfor2022 we have had this tagline for the past few years so we just change the year! If you follow me on social media at least my personal pages have the tagline in just about every single picture. So a lot of our themes go around that tagline. We also pick either color schemes that work for us or we let the kids pick a theme such as a certain region of the world, etc. All of the food, desserts, or snacks align with the theme!

Sleep Over Fun

So if you’re not keen into putting the little ones to bed early with their own party than let them stay up! Yup! It’s one night. Place them in pajamas early and see how long they can hang. If you do this be sure there are activities for them especially if there are going to be other adults than just parents involved. Do not if you can help it have kids intermingled with the adults without age appropriate activities. We allow our kids to stay up. I know that some people frown on it but our kids will pretty much go to sleep that night when they want to. My children are able to hang to be honest. The only drawback is that they still get up in the wee hours of the morning!

Bring Out the Crafts

Let them make their own noise makers. Let them also make their own New Year Eve hats. It’s a quick way to allow their imagination run wild as well as give them something creative way to do. Also you can have them make vision boards if the kids are a little older. Vision boards even for kids helps them to practice learning the art of making goals and seeing them through. We do a family vision board party. It’s a lot of fun. They make a lot of mess. It’s interesting to see the things that they hold valuable. We are able to talk about them while we watch them work.

Don’t Stress

We are mostly home. So a lot of things we are doing with kids in tow is about what’s necessary at the time. The rules have to change. So what you might not have done in the past you may have to change now. I’ve been attempting to be cool, calm, and collective about the way I work or handle my children. They are in just as much stress as I have been. So with that in mind, holidays I tend to keep it more about being light and fun. The kids already have enough on their plate! Don’t stress about the night. Remember it’s just a night! Let them have fun within reason!

Our Plans? New Year Edition

We are going to let our children stay up. They will have snacks and food as well as their sparkling apple cider. We will watch a New Year special, play music, dance, and I will decorate the house for pictures and just an all around fun vibe. We love allowing them to have fun!

Happy New Year to the Children! It’s their year too!
