Eternal Life Part 1

Eternal Life Part 1 is a great show. Know that the concept of death isn’t shown in a gruesome. I can’t say that the production needs a trigger warning. In my opinion it doesn’t. It supposed to make you think, start or spark conversations, make you aware without evoking fear.

Before you Go to Eternal Life Part 1

I would suggest you arrive at least 30-40 minutes ahead. Depending on when you go to the show, you will need to find parking, grab a snack, and get settled. For the first time in a long time, they allowed beverages and snacks to enter the theatre. It was a refreshing surprise. If you have never attended a show at The Wilma Theatre you may not be aware of The Good Karma Cafe. They have food like soups and sandwiches. Along with smoothies, coffees, teas, and cocktails. Be aware that some performances are mask required. If you wish to not wear one, pay attention to the date selected.

In addition if you sit along the edges meaning the end seats there could be a talking goose near you. I would suggest you sit near the end seats to your left.

State of the Art Set

I must give credit to the production team for Eternal Life Part 1. I absolutely loved the way that they did the set. The set is also apart of the story. All of the technology used and more was so on point. The attention to detail was unmatched. From the talking Siri which mimics Alexa. However the way in which we use technology so we can be so advanced makes us think. How much do we rely on our gadgets. What will life look like in the future. If the future is on the line, how does it work with the way we process life?

Talking Goose in Eternal Life Part 1

The goose is not the main character but it is a main present. Sarah Gliko plays the part of the goose too way. The mannerisms were uncanny. Yet without them it wouldn’t have made much sense. Sarah’s costume was absolutely stunning in every way. The goose added so much depth to the conversations, as well as was such a loyal companion until the end. What is the end? Who will stand with you in the end? How much stock do we put into our homes? The goose’s present added so much value. I know it doesn’t make sense but trust me it does.

The Dynamic of the Family

There were so many nuggets of wisdom dropped by Jean Kidwell (Woman, Mother Snowflake), Brandon Pierce (Junior, Snowflake Child, Hearse Driver) and Steven Rishard (Man, Father Snowflake) was thought provoking. From the son and his wanting to take his own journey. To the Mom wanting to be sure that she gave him enough. Empty nesters learning to forge their own way and more. The stages of life that we all have to face at some point is a beautiful and unpredictable part of life.

Lindsay Smiling plays the Gray Bearded Man and Death Consultant. What would yous say if you could control when you leave? Working on your last moments so you can go in the fashion that you saw fit. It’s something to think about since in our everyday lives we don’t know when it’s our last time here.

What would you do if you could live forever?

This is a question to consider. Life doesn’t allot forever in the confines of time the way we see it. Some people believe that we just transition to another life or body. However the time that we have here on this earthly realm may come with the confines of learning to make the most of what we have. Things like living forever and traveling the world and more are some of the answers to the board right outside of the opening of the house. Answers like playing with dogs or simply eating good food everyday. Everyone has something that they seek.

What is life especially in the construct of time? What ways are we exploring, living and more? These are all questions not answered but proposed in a way to think. The Wilma Theatre took this production along with a talking goose to set the tone of imagination, truth, and thought.  In the garden as life springs forth also brings awareness and truth. The production is here until April 30th. Tickets are now available.
