Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Friday mental wellness

Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. We have made it to another Friday and I am grateful. There have been quite a lot of events that took place this week. In addition I had a little mental health break. So what all went down?

Bridal Shower Show with Demure Bridal

I attended a bridal show with Demure Bridal over last weekend. It was a great event showcasing beautiful gowns. The gowns were made for every body type and I loved seeing diversity in the show. Now please understand that I am personally not having another wedding any time soon. However it is always good to see what’s trending in wedding gown couture. From a wife to those who are getting married this year and beyond pick the dress that makes you happy and you feel your most beautiful in. Demure bridal gowns are ones that you should pay attention to.

Philadelphia Flower Show Press Conference Friday Review

The press conference was so well done. It has to be one of the most fun ones so far. They had beautiful flowers arrangements by Petit Jardin en Ville. In addition we were able to make our own bouquets of flowers to take home. All of this while learning of the new things to come in March. March brings on the first days of Spring. No better way to welcome Spring than the biggest Flower Show in the world. This will bring so many jobs, and increase revenue for the city of Philadelphia to help fund gardens and more in and around the city. Make sure you read the blog on what to expect as well as get tickets now. The closer you wait to the Flower Show the more expensive it will be.

We talk about goal setting as we conclude the month. Most people fall off of their goals in February. The talk that we had shifted into making goals setting more than the hype of the beginning of the New Year. Listen in on the new episode.

Self Care and Mental Wellness

This week like so many who experience these things daily I too had a moment. What I experienced was difficulty in getting normal tasks done, grief, depressive moods and more. I was diagnosed with Episodic Depression. This happens for at least two weeks at a time. I experience this all year long but can flare up more in the Winter time. I know my triggers. For me it’s allowing one thought of not doing enough to flourish. Once that happens, the thoughts can become overwhelming. It has never made me want to do any self harm. However my moods are low.

This is why I usually set my socials and more ahead of time so that I can still thrive monetarily during these times. I appear to be fine on the outside but on the inside I am struggling hard. There are a lot of shifts happening around me. I am still struggling within it. So if you are going through this or your own level of depression or depressive moods, you are not alone. Take some time to get you together. Here are the tools I used the last two weeks:

  • Therapy and Used old Lessons from therapy
  • Music therapy-played upbeat and used my playlist to pull me from low moods
  • Limited media events-anyone who I didn’t attend your event-self care was needed
  • Eat as healthy as I can
  • Increase water intake and limit coffee to only 2 days a week and most weeks for January no coffee

Know your Triggers

Again what worked for me may not work for you. Learn yourself before a trigger hits. As you learn yourself by getting still, journaling you get to see what times of the year mess with you the most. For me the coming down from the holidays is the most crucial time. I can see my triggers in my daily activity and how I move. The second I lose interest in things that bring me joy I know it’s not too far behind before the low feelings come on. Also I decline all personal invitations. For me it’s not that I am isolating them I am protective of who I allow myself around or even conversations with people too. So I hope that helps you feel seen and heard by me being as honest as I possibly can.
