Meet me at Dawn

Grief is overpowering. We see grief playout in the most raw and heart wrenching way in Meet me at Dawn. At the end of the show, there were so many that were crying. Meet me at Dawn is powerfully charged in the most amazing way and is must see.

Before you go and see Meet me at Dawn

Inis Nua is located at Louis Bluver Theatre at The Theatres, 302 Hicks Street. Parking is on the street as well as a public lot before you reach Hicks. I would plan to arrive about 20 minutes before the performance. The performance runs for 100 minutes. There is no intermission. Plan to go to the restroom before it starts. The performance celebrates the Queer love story by  Scottish writer Zinnie Harris. This show is not suitable for children as their is strong language used throughout the production. Masks are required so please make sure you have one. Seating is open so if you prefer a seat in the front plan to arrive early.

Jackie Soro and Hannah Gold in Meet me at Dawn

Both actresses were outstanding. From the time they are washed up on the shore the audience is brought into their love story in ways that serve both as a backdrop and intensity of their story. You will be taken on an emotional roller coaster. At one point you are seeing them in what you believe is the present. You only turn around and find that the unimaginable happens and you see it from the perspective of what it is like to grieve. Grief if you have ever experienced it before, is rough. The pain that is left behind for anyone is hard to imagine.

Personal Take Away

As with any production you will take away what you need from this show. For me I immediately wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster. At the end I watched and didn’t fully grasp that I would feel the strong emotions. I thought about my Mother in Law after her passing. At one point when Hannah Gold screamed out I remembered my son doing the same thing wanting his own grandmother. That pain as a Mother like with others who have experienced such pain will never be forgotten.

Meet me at Dawn is well written and the acting is outstanding. The energy between Hannah and Jackie is undeniable. This show wouldn’t have been as strong if they hadn’t done their job well. In addition there are so many moments when the calling to the audience to examine themselves albeit subtle. What would you do with one more day if you got the opportunity to see the one you lost? How would you handle it? We see the madness and anguish that grief takes but I felt at the end their was healing or at least the start of healing.

Meet me at Dawn is in production until Sunday March 5, 2023. Tickets are available. Also if you can’t attend the show and want to make a donation you are more than welcome. Thank you to Inis Nua and Aversa PR for having me.
