Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

If you’re a mom, know a mom, or friends with a mom you know that being overwhelmed at various points of mothering is inevitable.  Even the most calm and leveled headed mother will experience this feeling at any given point.

What makes a mother overwhelmed?  Usually trying to make sure that her children have the things they need can send a mother into being over load.  Moms want to be sure that basic needs are met and at times when you mix that with demanding lives and deadlines, it creates anxiety and hysteria.

No matter the reason here is my guide to being less stress.

1. Plan

We all know children come with their own level of unpredictability however planning and being prepared for those winding turns helps.

2. Stay calm

Sometimes when things happen a lot of times the people around us i.e. our kids respond to our level of stress.  We have to be calm so we can begin to handle what life throws at us

3. Ask for help

Yes you can have an S on your chest and be a superwoman but the reality is we all need help.  Don’t be afraid to ask family and friends for a helping hand when you need it.

4. Smile

This simple tool is often overlooked because if the bills need to be paid and your money is looking funny, how can you smile?  Easy, a smile has nothing to do with having it all.  A smile has to do with joy in your heart that doesn’t shake even when things look dim.

5. Heart check

Sometimes in parenting old wounds from our past come up.  Yes you don’t have issues than have children and think they just magically disappear.  They dont.  If you are struggling with anything from your past please take the time to outsource for counseling, etc.  It will help you parent better.

6. Get balanced

If you find your missed your mark stop beating yourself up.  Use your daily 24 hours to the best of your ability.  Stop trying to be perfect (see perfect mom blog), and find a balance that works best for you.

If you find that you have done all that you can and still things don’t add up, take a deep breath and calm down.  Find some time to get your thoughts together.  Nothing is going to fall off the earth if you don’t have an answer right now.

We love and appreciate all moms so no matter how stressed you are feeling, know that you aren’t alone.  Outsource and find some like minded moms who can be a source of wisdom or strength.

Happy moms week and happy Mother’s Day!!
