Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

I had a blast and a half at Anejo Philadelphia. This isn’t your Taco Bell tacos. Anejo tacos are the real deal. From tacos to small plates, it’s all about eating well, drinking well, and leaving knowing you had a full on experience. So you know how I do I’m going to break it down, taste, presentation, staff, and the when to eat breakdown.

Taco Selections

You either are a taco lover or you aren’t. There’s no middle here. Tacos are life and that’s not debatable. At Anejo there’s a taco for every lifestyle. They are full and I mean full of flavor and made to be fulfilling with every bite. I’ve seen tacos at other locations these selections are by far the best you have ever seen and eaten. These tacos come in denominations of 2 or 3 and if you have a picky crew, order a few different types and share.

Chicken Tacos

Lamb Tacos

Short Rib Tacos

Buffalo Cauliflower Tacos

Shrimp Tacos

There’s more taco selections by the way! Tacos are not in short supply! Tacos that hold their flavor and the shell doesn’t get all soggy and gross too by the way! These tacos are the real deal! Again you select them via in increments of 2 or 3. Combine them to make it a little fiesta and your night is made. Each taco comes to your table with care and the presentation is amazing.

Tacos no Drinks?

Did you laugh at that title. Who eats tacos without margaritas? Very few. I for one am serious about tacos and margaritas because to me with the right taco, Taco Tuesday can be everyday. Anejo has some amazing margaritas. I started off light with the Cucuy. This is the light margarita that packs a powerful punch. It’s a mix of Milagro blanco, cucumber, fresh lime, agave nectar. It’s not overly sweet and you can’t fully feel the impact initially but trust me, after awhile, it sneaks up on you.

My husband had the Mexican Firing Squad. This is a mix of Reposado Tequilla, house made pomegranate grendaine, fresh lime, butters, and a chili lime salt rim.

We will come back to the drinks….

Service

It was the BEST part. I could show you pictures of the food all day! Trust me..they are glorious. However what’s important is service. Great service can take even the most mediocre food experience better. However at Anejo you won’t have to slack on either. I love seeing how staff treats you before you inform them of who you are. It speaks volumes if the staff switches up after the fact. When we arrived we were greeted without incident. There were smiles all around and everyone even those who weren’t waiters or waitresses asked if they could help. This is important. You want all staff to be on the same page that customer experiences start at the first hello.

Once I identified who I was at that I was there for the Media Grand Opening the smiles and treatment just simply continued. I never had to wait for my glass to be empty. I never had to wait for someone to come and take my order. I didn’t use the website but once seated you are given a QR code where you can place tour order without having to interact with the staff should you choose. Staff still went above and beyond to make sure all was well. I watched how they handled those who simply walked up to eat as well. Everyone flowed and made it about the customers.

When to Eat and Deets

Remember Covid-19? Yeah, it’s still here so continue to practice social distancing. In Philadelphia indoor eating hasn’t been released. You still have to be 6 feet apart and with your masks on until you are seated. Right now, eating is outside. The set up is good for dates, hanging and catching up with friends, etc. I would limit small children unless you necessarily have to bring them. Trust me I remember the days and actually I still have the days that some restaurants just aren’t a good fit for little babies. It has more to do with the lack of space for strollers and baby seats. I did take a sneak peek inside and inside is definitely more ideal for family seating. Again this is my personal opinion I could see a little kid coming and parents doing what they have to do to get out too.

Favs of the Night

I would highly recommend their tuna ceviches, Brussel sprouts, and their pork belly tosado (recommended by my husband). I mean everything was great it’s hard to say that these are my favorites but I wouldn’t leave Anejo without trying them for real! I think I left my Brussel sprouts at the restaurant and forget until I was already in route home so I’m already sad.

Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of what you expect once inside. It’s stunning. Thank you Anthony for giving me and my husband the best time. We had a great time and even learned a little about Mezcal too.

A full night out and after the week that we had wasn’t only warranted it was especially beautiful.

Oh and last before we end this, can we talk about matching the decor?! Well the decor of liquor… this Blanco Margarita with prickly pear?! My favorite of the night. The right mix of sour and sweet!

Thank you Anejo Philadelphia and Aversa PR for a great night! I can’t wait to see you again! To my followers, let me know how much you enjoy it!!
