Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

JJ Ramberg

As women it’s important that we have a dream and follow it. Often times when starting things we have to be prepared to do the work behind the scenes. If you haven’t heard about Goodpods you’re in for a treat. Goodpods is in line with podcast listeners and Podcasters alike to bridge the gap from their other podcast players to this. JJ Ramberg, Co-Founder of Goodpods talks about formulating the concept. By the way the app is free.

What is Goodpods?

Goodpods is a podcast player. There’s an app that you can download. It can be best be described as the Instagram of podcast. You follow your favorite podcasters, friends and more. No more asking what podcast should I watch because Goodpods takes that innovation to the next level. Goodpods arranges podcast by categories making it easier for you to discover new content.

Indie Podcasters

For small podcasts such as mine it’s hard at times being seen. Goodpods keeps the small podcaster in mind always. Podcasters can claim their podcasts and set up the ability to get tips etc. from those watching. This helps monetizing right off the bat. No middle person involved.

JJ on Discovery

Being able to do something you love and doing the work behind the scenes to get the information you need is important. In the beginning of launching Goodpods JJ and the team met with over 700 people to get insight on what they needed. For instance listening to listeners, Podcasters, and more on how they could support Creators who don’t have machines behind them to push their content matters. Ask smaller Creators and its the access to resources that is the reason they aren’t always successful. Having Goodpods keeping the Indie podcasters in mind to be the push behind them is the focus point.

Solving the Problem

With anything that you do you have to ask yourself what is the problem you are solving. JJ talks about solving the fact that as a listener they don’t always know what new podcast or podcasters are out. Goodpods helps solve that. The other issue is that some other podcast players drain your battery or don’t allow you to be able to do other things while listening. Goodpods resolved that. Not being able to monetize while being a Podcaster, Goodpods helped Podcasters be able to set up their favorite electronic payment like PayPal etc. to accept tips and more.

Self-Care with JJ

I asked JJ on what she does for self care. Her biggest thing is being organized. She and I are very much alike. Having clear working spaces helps in the creative space. Another thing is working out. JJ feels good when she is able to do things for her body in the aspect of movement. She also plans to do some traveling soon. Taking a road trip brings back the memories of her own childhood. I personally love a good road trip too.

What to Expect with Goodpods in the Future?

In the next couple of months Goodpods is looking to launch the desktop version of their app. Personally this will be  game changer. I look forward to listening on my laptop while working and switching back and forth. Goodpods always has their ears to the ground. They encourage listeners as well as Podcasters to let them know when a function isn’t working. They are receptive and open to hearing what people want out of the app. This app was built with people in mind. So if you haven’t gotten on the app make Goodpods your go to for listening to podcasts.

You can catch JJ on the podcast episode tomorrow as she is our guest for this week. So JJ thank you for starting off our Women’s History Month series. Its women like you who take a chance on starting something new and making it better. Women who aren’t afraid to carve out space for others. If it wasn’t for JJ my own podcast, Conversations with Toi wouldn’t have happened. She directed me to Christina who took me under their wing and gave me the support that I needed to take the dream to fruition.
