& Juliet
The phenomenon that is & Juliet is well deserved. It’s a musical that takes on a modern stance and changes the way we see the classic of Romeo and Juliet. This is not anything you could expect. Full of messaging this is a great show to take your daughter, friend, and more. So, what is your what to expect and more.
What to Expect
The show is about two and a half hours long. It does include an intermission. The show is high energy from start to finish. The messaging is strong as well so there are some adultlike themes. They have set the show that they recommend ages eight and up. However, for me I would make that ten. I took my 11-year-old and there were several things that I felt went over her head. However, the empowerment was there.

Get there early to get your snacks and find seating. You are going to want to be comfortable. This show does have bright lights so if you are sensitive keep that in mind. The last thing I would suggest that you should wear ear plugs, I recommend my faithful Loops. This cuts the sound down but allows you to still be present. Lastly there are some who are sensitive to themes surrounding the LGBTQ+ community. The show’s focus isn’t on this, but it is prevalent. I think if you are sensitive, you are the very audience to see it. To everyone else it will be a beautiful celebration of love.

Is it Worth the Watch
I usually leave this for the end of the review/blog but this time I wanted to make this clear. I took my youngest daughter, and I am going to take my oldest. The messaging is so needful. Young girls don’t have to grow up with the notion that to be successful that they must focus on relationships to do so. However, if they desire love that you can find someone who is on their level and willing to do the work to make it work. That is just one part of the messaging.

Outstanding Singing from Rachel
Rachel Simone Webb plays Juliet, and I must admit we (my influencer friends) all said how jaw dropping her singing is. She can sing anything. I haven’t heard a voice so pure in a long time. There shouldn’t be any musical that she wouldn’t get the part. From her first note you will remember her for years to come. Since I had my daughter with me, she immediately recognized her beauty. She is undeniably gorgeous. The bigger take away for me was having my youngest see a girl that reflects her brown skin and did well.

Star Studded Cast in & Juliet
The cast gets tens across the board. Not one person did a bad job. I will say that I wasn’t anticipating the movement of having Anne and Shakespeare move me the way that it did. Anne is played by Teal Wicks. Shakespeare is played by Corey Mach. It could be that as a married woman I have felt insignificant as I was a SAHM (stay at home mom). The dynamics of watching your husband fulfill his purpose but also hoping yours isn’t in childrearing alone is real.

The Gift of Friendship
The stage was bright, colorful, there were moments that I had tears in my eyes. The part that gets me the most-you are (expletive) amazing. My daughter talked about what made her personally amazing in every way. You will notice that no one supports women like other amazing women. I talked to my daughter about how the gift of friendships can carry you through each cycle of life.
A special thank you to the cast of & Juliet and to Ensemble Arts Philly for having me. This show is running now until April 6th. Get your tickets now!
