Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Well good Monday morning to you! It’s another day! Another day to be grateful and make changes. Another day to find yourself on the right side of humanity. Mondays, and sorry to those who struggle the most on Mondays are my most progressing day. I get a lot done but it’s because of the prep that I put into my Sunday to make it happen!

Sorrowful Monday: Raynard Brooks

As chipper as my Monday’s usually are we are yet again at a crossroad. Another life has been taken other the weekend as we continue protesting in the streets for equality. Another father has been taken from his family. Rayshard Brooks was killed in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant. He was drunk and fought with the police for their taser and took off running. As he ran he was shot at least 2 times in the back. Now I know what some naysayers are saying…he shouldn’t have fought for the taser. You are right. However his fight with the taser is no different when white men have done the same and still those men were able to come home or face prosecution. Rayshard should have been apprehended and taken to jail and not killed. This isn’t about glorifying his behavior. This is about him having his day in court to stand on those charges instead of his daughter waiting in her birthday dress still waiting an arrival that didn’t happen and will never happen!

Monday Push Through

So now what again? How many Mondays are we starting off the week in the same place of racial inequality?! I have no clue but what I do know is we are here now. It’s exhausting. It’s painful! It’s stressful wondering what stories will take place! How do we push through? What do we do? How do we keep our spirits high during these times of distress? I am taking one day at a time. I am practicing so much daily self care,it’s crazy! I am taking breaks as often as I can! This past weekend before I even knew about Rayshard, I took a mental break. I didn’t even hear about it until Sunday because I wanted to be sure to take a full break from social media! No news! No stress!

Personal Accountability

One of the areas of responsibility that I take a daily account is with myself. What can I do to contribute to the world from a personal place of hard work and moral responsibility? It starts with me. I make sure that I hold my personal compass high! This is what we all need to do. I’ve attempted to stop arguing with people online. I’m tired of explaining and hoping that others will see basic human rights for all! Although this doesn’t stop racism at all it makes me take stock on those around me. It makes me aware of those who in all of this craziness decide that they don’t have any form of moral responsibility. There are countless people who pull Karen moves. Then there are the ones who don’t even consider that Black Lives have value. The are those who would rather be clear in hurting the movement instead of helping it. The companies who have been called out due to their lies of supporting because its unpopular not to but only do so on paper!

Monday Alignment

So the world is gone crazy! I’ve never seen this much uproar in all of my days. It’s like a hit daily and no time to breath. It’s like getting over one issue only to turn around and face more non stopping heart break! I’m so tired of having these conversations not because I don’t believe in it but because it’s more tiring to those who don’t believe to challenge those like myself who live with social inequality daily!

My job

What can I do to help or call into accountability? With the blog and influencer world, I make sure to do my due justice to align with brands that stand for justice before it became popular to make a stand. I make sure that I don’t break for anyone who disagrees. This isn’t the time for disagreeing. I take my stand and let the chips fall where they may. I make sure not to let people use me to be the token black voice. I’m not here to help you blend when in reality company representatives don’t truly belief in what they post.

Goals Still?..

So are we still crushing goals! Yes but it’s heavy. It’s traumatizing. It’s a violation of life. I hate that the world just wants to hurry and get back to life as they know it when the life as I understand it is being challenged!

Hold your head up! Check in with one another! Be kind and not a Karen to one another! Stand for justice for all. I mean literally for all! The way life is set up, only the privilege get to decide who is free and who is not! That’s not the life I want for my children!

What day is it?

I do want to highlight a young entrepreneur…Tonisha Cooks. A young lady who wants us to all be comfortable and stylish. Her goal is simple to uplift and unite! She started this company just a few months ago and is killing it! What day is it is a question I’ve asked this who quarantine time. Our sense of comfort has been taken in more ways than one. Join me in supporting her company. This shirt “I’d rather be outside@ sums up my mood. I haven’t interacted with many since quarantine. Although we are in the yellow, I’m still leery. I would rather be outside but outside where all rights can be honored! Support and purchase your own T-shirt here!
