Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

I have always had a love for animals. This is why anytime I can get to the Philadelphia Zoo it’s always a treat. If you have been following me you know I’m usually the first to be at all things Philadelphia Zoo. From the Zoo Key to the Luminature show it’s always fun and smiles. The Zoo is for all ages. I love taking my children but I too have had no problem going on my own and enjoying some great walks and food while visiting my favorite animals.

Zoo Animals

You can’t go to the Zoo without seeing the animals. They are the main attraction. From seeing the tigers walk overhead to the otters swimming happily in the water everyone has their favorite. For me I would say my favorite is the toss up between the Hippos and the Lions. It’s something about these two animals from two different spectrums that just make me happy. What’s your favorite animal?

Reopening

Although the Zoo is eager to open (with restrictions) here’s something you can do to help in anticipation of its opening! You can donate! Yes the Zoo still has to take care is those wonderful animals and it takes the dedicated Zoo keepers to help. You can donate and help their Spring Back Fund! The Philadelphia Zoo welcomes any amount as no donation is too small. Helping the Zoo’s mission of being able to care for the animals on site we well as remotely!

Zoo Highlights

So maybe it’s been a minute even before Covid-19 that you visited the Zoo and you need a reminder of all the wonder that awaits your return:

Urban Green

New and improved eateries: there are amazing new food trucks that has food for all palettes. The Urban Green is also a great place to grab some wine and beer. Nothing is better than taking a break for wine and beer while enjoying the Zoo!

Wild Works

This is a rope exhibit that allows you to be hands on and interactive. You get to be harnessed and take a walk literally on the wild side in air. The exhilaration is out of this world. FYI I did it and loved it! Being up in the air gives you a thrill that is like no other. The fun and excitement is a definite must for all!

Welcome to the Family

On December 11th the Philadelphia Zoo welcomed a new baby Bear Sloth. They welcomed patrons from all over to name the new bear and over 200,000 answered the call! Keematee which had 53% of the votes won! Keematee means Precious in Hindi! I know everyone wants to know if the new Sloth Bear is a girl or boy but that hasn’t been determined. Identifying their sex isn’t as easy as it seems. Regardless Keematee is loved already! Welcome little one!

Also do you like the Philadelphia Spring Back shirt?

It comes in a variety in a variety of colors. I just love red! Grab your shirt as it helps towards the Spring Back Fund!

So yes we await for the Zoo to open up soon. We know when it does open there will be restrictions in place to keep everyone safe. The new normal doesn’t have to restrict the fun! Donate and do your part!

My kids interacting with the staff pretending to be animals themselves

Thank you to the staff of the Philadelphia Zoo and Aversa PR for keeping the animals safe and happy! Have you been watching their daily Zoo at 2? It’s a live interactive show online showcasing the animals in their natural habitat! It’s a great way to step away from working from home. I use it as a pause with my own children. We love getting to know more facts that we normally would. It opens up communication about how the animals live daily! So take a look!
