Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Wednesday. Today has been a day but I will get to that. Let’s talk travel, self care, community and more. Media events aren’t stopping anytime. As we venture into all of the who’s who of the mid week-Happy Best Friends Day!

Travel Talk

I am a firm believer that before you worry about handbags and red bottoms-travel. Now I am not saying I don’t have those things because I do. It could be my age, but experiences are the spice of life. For me especially in the Summer I love to see my tan lines as Fall enters. It lets me know I have done well with my Summer. If you are wanting to travel with others, I understand that too. There are times when solo travel may be necessary too. Don’t discount it. When I went to Los Angeles a few weeks ago, my anxiety went sky high. I made a mental health travel hack guide to assist in those moments. Before I travel and after, I test myself for Covid in addition to wearing my masks as much as possible. Travel smarter this travels season.

Friday Fun

So this past Friday, I had too much fun. It’s been a long time since I had multiple events on the same day. As a wife I loved spending my time with my husband so we turned these events into date night. For instance it’s not often but when we can get a sitter we take full advantage of our time. So first up was an invitation from Harrah’s Casino. The opening of O’shea’s. It’s a great pub that gambling, food, and drinks to Harrah’s.

Wednesday Truly

We also enjoyed some of Truly’s Vodka. If you do nothing else run don’t walk to you nearest Wine and Spirits shop and get it. I had it mixed with a club soda and by itself-it’s delicious either way.

After that we spent some time at Arden Theatre to see School Girls: African Mean Girls. It has been extended until this Sunday. You must get tickets. I have been to Arden Theatre and never have I seen the lines wrapped around the corner. Read the blog review and more.

Be a Gem Crossing Wednesday Joy

Today was amazing. I went to the Ground breaking of Be A Gem Crossing. It’s a community-backbone organization that has grown from the commitment and support of the H. Chase Lenfest Foundation, celebrated the official groundbreaking ceremony of Be a Gem Crossing, a 68,000 square foot mixed-use, adaptive reuse development on the former site of the Liberty Motel—once a catalyst for crime throughout the Hunting Park-East Tioga community. The organization was joined by project partners, stakeholders, neighbors, and more than 150 attendees as they gathered to support the commencement of the planned development, which is set to transform the Germantown Commercial Corridor and liberate the surrounding neighborhoods.

I had the best time watching the community come together to mark the occasion. People who were on the ground spearheading. From the calls to the police to get the used to be location closed. It sits across the street from Mary Mcleod Bethune Elementary School. No way those kids or any kids should have had to witness drug deals, prostitution and more happening in front of them. This new location, will help to ensure those kids in the community are safe and that their families will have access to healthcare, jobs, and housing.

Freestyle Love Supreme-Wednesday Recap

I attended the show last night and it’s a MUST see. A Hip Hop improv show that has the crowd interact. No two shows are the same. It was just amazing from start to finish. I couldn’t believe the level of craft that these amazing stars were able to pull off. If you never been to Freestyle Love Supreme you are missing out. Don’t let that happen. You can get tickets this week for $35 by using code, RUSH.

Thank you to the Kimmel Cultural Center for having me. The show is 90 minutes without intermission. Come prepared to show your vaccination card as well as keep your mask on the entire time. The show is high energy. Although there were kids in the audience, keep in mind that there is strong language and suggested scenes. Also there is no recording throughout the show but if you’re able to follow the rules, there will be a time at the end to do so.

I will be bringing the review of The Fairview that I attended today-tomorrow. Friday is recap day and Saturday will be my time at Sesame Place. So stay tuned. To all of us who have amazing Best Friends-call them and let them know you love them. Happy Best Friends Day.
