Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

What a difference a year has been. Last year we were in our Easter pajamas with hair a mess, no plans, relaxed, but safe. This year the only thing that has changed is our hair is re-twisted and we rocking our Easter t-shirts. Same love and limited plans and after a year in I’m okay with that!

Easter Joy

Every year I do my motherly thing where I try to make sure everything in its place. I had to tell myself and remind myself that Easter isn’t about perfection. It’s about memories, gratefulness, and family. As much as I want things to be beautiful, children just love the acknowledgment. So this year although it naturally came out nice I decided to self-care my Easter.

Outsource, Conquer and Divide

I’ve never bought my kids a store bought basket. It’s not that I have a problem with them I just never have. This year I decided to support a local woman owned business, Kelly’s Kandy! This allowed me to support as well as take the edge of putting these baskets together the night before Easter. I enjoyed plopping the baskets down at their place settings. I was able to get my husband to pick them up and I saved time and money. I tend to get heavy handed when I put the baskets together on my own! This year it was simple and to the point!

I did however have to put my cat’s basket together! Shout out to my sister in love, brother and sister in loves’ parents for sending more treats too!

Slow Down

I ended up getting my second vaccination 2 days before. This landed me in the bed for a full 24 hour period. This forced me to rest. I had no choice but to slow down. I was able to gather myself in enough time to catch up from what I had missed. I enjoyed watching Hop while rebraiding my youngest hair. Listening to them laughing all day as they tried on several million outfits for dress up.

Details Matter

Although I didn’t make their baskets there’s one detail that I have to have for them. My kids are fully aware there’s no Easter bunny. They still enjoy when I leave footprints as If the bunny hopped all around the house. It’s one detail I don’t forget. Also I found the cutest mini chalk boards to write their names at the basket and treat spots.

Easter Cheer

We plan to have an Easter egg hunt later today! Letting the kids run around and find the eggs will be a blast. I mean it can’t get much more simple than that. A little dinner and a lot of happy and content faces. That’s the hope I pray happens for you too-happy and content faces and safe gatherings.

So Happy Easter to you and your family! May the blessing of the Easter spirit touch you and yours!
