Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

I had the pleasure of going to Tinsel. Tinsel is your one stop shop for Halloween. It’s amazing in every way. With social distancing I was a little scared it wouldn’t be back. I was happily wrong.

Tinsel Haunted House

With change doesn’t mean it has to be non existent. Tinsel has given us the Halloween explosion we love. They now have a walk through haunted house. FYI I screamed twice. I’m not a fan of scary but I like the fun of Halloween. It’s a funny and weird combination for me. In times past from head to toe you can count on Tinsel to be there with all of the decorations. They hit the nail on the head again! It’s still full of Halloween fright. It’s also now walkable. The only thing is no cell phones until you get to the electric chair! The theme is Asylum and trust me you will meet Marg and the other “residents” as you walk through.

Tinsel Expansion

So with change comes new. New doesn’t have to be so scary or maybe it should. Tinsel has outdoor seating. After you go through the haunted house, grab yourself a snack and a drink! It’s really a great way to end an evening! I highly recommend this for a great date night or time with friends. Leave the kids at home for this one and leave the fun for adults only. This is your night to have a little frightful fun.

Safety Protocols

As with all things as our new normal has highlighted masks are 100% a must. Social distance is required as all tables have been spaced approximately. Staff will be in full compliance and keeping things wiped down and disinfected. Remember that unless you’re seated, your mask must stay on! Tinsel has provided the scares but you have to do your part to keep safe as well! Trust me Halloween can continue with protocols!

Sueno Philly

This is a new venture with Teddy Sourias and Craft Concepts Group. Yes they are the same ones responsible for all of the Instagram spots you have loved. So following our tour at Tinsel we headed over to Sueno and it was everythang.

Day of the Dead Theme

You will see elements of the theme throughout the entire restaurant. The lighting is dark and beautiful and necessary. Trust me. From the menu to the ambiance you will enjoy every part! Here are my take aways:

Drinks

They are strong. There’s no mincing with their pour! Here are the ones I had and I’ll go by my likes.

Craneo Del Azucar

It’s made with Don Julio silver, grapefruit, lime and club soda! This was quite a punch! A little tart but with a Don Julio you never can go wrong!

Otoño

This is made with Corazon repo, apple cider, lime, honey, and cinnamon. It has that Fall taste I was hoping for! It didn’t let me down!

Vampire’s Kiss

This is my favorite one! I had 3 drinks too! Before you judge me they were my husband’s pick. What type of wife would I be if I hadn’t sampled his too? This drink is the one I would order every time! It’s made with Corralejo anejo, blood orange, jalepeño, and lime. Let me be honest…I let the drink sit waiting on a straw! It was still great! I say that because often times drinks don’t be right after they sit. Sueno y’all didn’t disappoint!

I’ll post more drinks on my Instagram! Also you can always see in my stories under Philly Philly! From today until their grand opening this Friday I will be sharing so don’t miss out! This is the place to be for a Halloween themed dinner! Speaking of food…

Street Corn

You can’t have a Mexican themed restaurant and not have street corn! It’s an impossibility. They have some good street corn!

Also my favorite…

Mushroom Quesadilla

This here is a must have! I’m sure the other options are amazing! My husband had the Shrimp Tacos but this quesadilla made me want to order some to take home! It was that good!

However there’s always and I mean always room for dessert when it’s an apple empanada!! It’s served with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon. I mean honestly I may pull up just for the empanadas and I’m not lying. It was so warm it immediately melted the ice cream.

So you can attend Tinsel and eat outside with amazing food and drinks or you can have an inside sit down with food and drinks inside of Sueno! I know outside will get cooler, grab a sweater, flannel, or jacket and keep the fun going!

Don’t worry this guy will keep you company!

Thank you Tinsel, Sueno Philly, and Aversa PR for the invite. Also Let’s keep Sweater Weather Philly going!
