Monday Podcast

Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. This weekend was full of great times. However it would be amiss if I didn’t pause on the shooting that took place this weekend here in Philadelphia. 3 people lost their lives and many injured on a popular street, South Street. It’s a sad time considering the amount of lost that has taken place in Philadelphia alone. So for this Monday let’s start off with some reality, determination, and gratitude.

Monday Basics

What was your go to as you woke up? For me it was starting my week on the right foot. That’s not something that happens every week. I am always honest about the day when the days start off rough. As we push and show up as our best selves, let’s not abandon our plans just because that warm Summer heat is upon us. As much as we may relax that doesn’t mean stop altogether. We must still strive for greatness within ourselves. Work smarter. Fill your cups for the water you need, add fruits and veggies to you diet, and increase some movement. These are just our Monday basics. Also don’t forget to set a listening party for yourself. Whether that’s a playlist of songs or podcast, do it!

Here is a quick list of my podcast/spoken word, etc. listens that gets my Mondays off to the right pace:

The Suga

Brown Sugar: The Podcast

Also don’t disinclude music either. Sometimes a good dance or twirl is all that you need. Movement can really do so much to help you move.

Ways to Jumpstart Your Monday Mood

There are a million and one ways to jumpstart your Monday. If you are already at work or where you need to be-saying preparation may not work. Apply that to your Tuesday. Prepare early enough to help your anxiety, alarms that don’t go off, snoozed too many times, and more. However as yourself did you take your vitamins and medication. If you are answering no, set this to the side and take them. Get some water. Fill your cup. Eat well. Take a 5-10 walk outside or drink coffee outside. What you put into your body and what you allow your body to do helps in so many ways. This is a great way to jumpstart your mood. It’s not about focusing on missed opportunities. Create them.

Food Inspiration

I love food. I’m not too keen on different textures. That is an unknown secret about me. However since June is fruit and veggie month, I want to encourage you to increase them into ALL of your meals. It’s hot, increase some fruit smoothies. Substitute juice with sparkling water or a plant based milk.  Add some veggies in your breakfast dishes. Add them in your wraps, salads, or more. IF you are unsure about how to make anything, remember to use online platforms or get an amazing cookbook.

Summer Monday Inspiration

So as the Summer cooks up it’s best heated moments here are some things to keep in mind in a relaxed mood. Yes it’s okay to let “your hair down,” however life is still moving. This means that you can be relaxed but focused. If you plan to sleep in more that is fine-do that. However don’t relax on movement. If you plan to decrease movement add some nutritional value meals. There’s no real full balance. However we need to be more mindful. Sometimes in certain seasons of our lives, we tend to simply to not be focused than get mad at the results. Mindfulness is a way of life. It’s not perfection.

Monday parents

Parents and Caregivers

As we give to others-fill our cup. You are being watched. We have so many people that depend on us. However one way to mirror good habits to others is to be the first partakers of a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you eat, take care of you, and love on you. It’s a lot. Teachers either already handed your children back to you or soon will. Summer doesn’t have to be planned to the T but add some value to it by organizing a few days. I usually have 3 days were we are on a schedule and 2 days to do more free days. This works for us. Do what works for you.
