People's Light

People’s Light presents A Christmas Carol.  This timeless story of learning to see the humanity in people isn’t the type of production where you simply attend and watch. You become a participator in seeing love and kindness in ways that I have never seen this story done. It’s an experience. A Christmas Carol isn’t a show it’s an experience that pulls on you heart, makes you think, and hopefully allows each patron to take kindness as a coat with them into their communities.

People’s Light Safety Precautions

People’s Light is having all patrons present their vaccination cards as well as having audience members keep their mask on during the production. This allows all to be safe including the staff and the actors and actresses. Please plan to arrive early enough to show staff your matching Identification and vaccination. Also seating is spaced as well according to the purchase of the tickets.

A Beautiful Welcome Back To People’s Light

As we were seated for the show we were greeted by the most beautiful band. The melodies of the music I thought was just a welcome but it was a dual for the show’s opening. The actors and actresses interacted with the audience. All of them acknowledging how long we all missed being with another. Also I loved how the conversation about the struggles that we have been facing these last two years and how honest it was.  It was the moment of pause I didn’t even know I needed. I took my oldest with me and we sat quiet but somber and looking at one another acknowledging the stress that the last two years had thrown. It was beautiful and sobering.  This allowed our hearts to open even more for what we were about to experience.

A Christmas Carol

The story of Scrooge’s reckoning as he sees his bad behavior unleashed. He is shown a mirror of his ways with the appearance of 3 ghosts/spirits.  This was done by People’s Light in a way that was fresh and new. I would be amiss to say that the Production Team took a minimalistic approach  of the set but still transformed us all into a world where we were transformed.  The set was stunning. The lighting was absolute perfection it was like sitting inside of a garden.

Intermission Goals

Due to the pandemic having Intermissions where food and drink is sold has changed. People’s Light did an amazing job allowing the patrons to go outside for fresh air, grab some amazing hot apple cider with treats available to purchase. Also I was able to take a trip into the building to see the Kindness Wall. Messaging of ways we can “see’ others was beautiful and a great daily reminder. As we wear mask sometimes the connection with others don’t always come through. Giving someone a compliment about jewelry or maybe just holding a door open are things that we need to incorporate into our daily lives.

Musical Explosion

I have been singing in choirs my whole life. There is a difference between good Singers and Sangers. A Sanger is one who not only gets perfected notes but pulls you into each song with the Vibrato of the soul. Every song was perfect. The entire cast is talented. I was blown away. The musical selections were exemplary.

Actors/ Actresses

There wasn’t one acting part that I wasn’t impressed by-not one. They hit their parts and they brought their souls into each role. I was happy to see the way in which the actors and actresses chemistry shined through. You could see that right along with the theme of kindness and care, each actor/actress allowed the simplicity of care to shine through.

Impact Beyond the Production

Everyone who has ever heard the story of A Christmas Carol is aware that the recurring theme of treating others with respect is something we need to be reminded. We all are connected. The connection of humanity and never losing that ability to understand, show compassion, as well as be loving towards the hurting. We have seen the way that we who are all in this life together have behaved. Taking the themes presented in A Christmas Carol, I hope that we all can become that much better.
