What is a perfect Saturday? Is it the sleeping in? Or is it running around doing a great target haul? Only you can answer that. However on any given Saturday the name of the game is reclaiming your time. All week long you might have had to do a lot of running around for work and more. That is okay. However one day out of the weekend should be yours even if the running around switches role. Here is a few recipes for your perfect Saturday.
Cozy Saturday Vibes
To have a cozy Saturday you might start off with sleeping in. Now for me whenever I am able to do that it usually is a 9am wake up. This Saturday I won’t have that leisure. One of the things that I have been intentional in having a cozy Saturday is drinking my morning coffee out of a mug instead of a to go cup. Although I love my Kate Spade cup I would rather be able to slow it down even if it just for a few minutes.
Think about ways to add a little slow down to your day. For instance other ways to have a cozy Saturday:
- Target (or other store ) haul
- Movie watching or going to the movies, Wicked is out and is a great watch
- Doing nothing-lazy Saturdays are a great way to have a great saturday
- Cooking and eating at home or even ordering out
- Resetting your home and enjoying time inside
- Book reading
- Crafting
- Sewing
- Puzzles
- Being creative-arts and more
Themed Days
For instance think about a good themed dinner. This makes you focus on the things that you want or need. For instance doing a Mexican themed dinner. You can grab the basic of ingredients and make it a night of fun. From the drinks to the food it can be a fun way to do something different. I love a good menu and then playing some board games with the family. It adds a little fun in the atmosphere.
Self Care/Reset Day
For instance one day I decided to start with my car and go down the line of the things that I really wanted to be able to clean up and enjoy. Nothing in my opinion says reset like a clean car. Now for many this could be a chore and in a way it is. However cozy feeling for me is being around and in the things that are clean. So I will clean the car, get it ready to be on the road for the week. I do spend a lot of time in it. After that going for a coffee, grabbing what I need and returning home to read a good book. It’s the sense of feeling accomplished.
Also on a more epic day is when I can leave the kids with their dad, and take care of me. This starts with a hair appointment, coffee store run, nail appointment, bookstore run, lunch without having to consider others, shopping for me, and ending with a solo dinner date. I know there are many people who think that solo dates are strange but they are amazing.
What defines a great Saturday for you?
Usually I play Uber parent. My husband and I divide who has to be where. When I can I do a drop off and add in one or more of the above suggestions. Do I run errands? Yes like the rest of us. From Target hauls usually for the home to meal prepping life can be hectic. However I do take pride in slowing things down too. We are always in a rush. With the holidays coming up and being pulled to be everywhere and do everything get back to resting and resetting.
This last week I enjoyed some adult only wedding time, hanging with family, drinking adult drinks and a great night’s sleep. It was amazing. I felt like a million bucks. Happy Saturday make it amazing today!
