Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Valentine’s Day is another holiday that many people opt out of. It is quite okay to do so. However if you are partnered with someone who enjoys the day here are a few suggestions to adding a little sparkle to your day. Creativity and listening will go along way. I will also share a few things to stay away from, events or things to do around Pennsylvania and more.

Valentine's Day

Low Key Valentine’s Day Vibes

If you are not the type that likes the hoopla of the day or weekend having an indoor date night with your love can be just as special too. Things like an indoor themed dinner, cooking together, baking a treat, cute charcuterie board presentation and movies are all great indoor ideas. You can even do a sip and paint right in the confines of your living room or other space. Taking a few moments to add in some extra care into the day and effort will always bring a smile. Contrary to sound belief men like to be pampered too.

I love the ideas of turning the living room into a beautifully aesthetic lit movie time too. The creativity is what anyone would like to have. Also keep in mind that this can be done for both a Valentine or a Galentine. Nothing is more relaxing and brings a smile to your face than hanging with some friends and enjoying some good belly laughs over a glass of wine or even a little zero proof cocktail too.

All of the Glitz and Glam

If you want all of the energy of the day/weekend do just that. Here’s the thing about those from the outside looking in, they are merely spectators. I know that the day brings a lot of anxiety as a single person. When you see the red, pink, and white things and more it can stress you out. For those who want to dive into a more elaborate day here’s a few things to do that:

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride
  • Take dinner time out of the state with a drive
  • Staycation or romantic getaway
  • Limo Ride around the town

Philadelphia Restaurants for Valentine’s Day

I have a lot of experience eating out. A lot of my content centers around food. The way that I go out is a lot of pushing through my anxiety. However since I do eat quite a bit I do have a few recommendations for where you can grab an amazing meal. I would suggest making reservations now. In addition, many of the restaurants may also have specials.

Gift Giving For Valentine’s Day

Again creativity is key. The best gift that my husband has gotten me in recent years was having Jaleel White make a video message for me. I was in the house ugly crying because Jaleel White is one of my top childhood crushes. I til this day continue to watch it over. He did also give me a few other things that year but it wasn’t about just getting anything it’s about listening and knowing your person. Normally I ask for blog equipment like lights and more from my Amazon store and flowers. I am a flowers person but that’s not everyone’s thing. Whatever you do, don’t wait until the last minute either.

Looking for a great Galentine's Day with friends, go to The Pink Elephant in Philadelphia

Consider what your person likes. If your person loves a good spa or skin care get them a gift card or book them a service ahead of time. If you are in the city here are some suggestions:

For a Bookworms like me:

Gift them a gift card to their favorite bookstore. Also if you know of a book that they want and can get an autograph get that. Add book gadgets and accessories like a book light and bookmarks. If there is a bookstore cafe combination, encourage them to get a full day or a few hours of quiet time to read and enjoy their quiet.

Looking for a spot for Galentine’s vibes go to The Pink Elephant located at 1500 Locust Street, Philadelphia PA

Fashionistas

Make sure you know what they want for sure. But treat them to the purse or bag that they have been eyeing. Grab a great pair of shoes or a nice outfit that again you know for sure that they will love. Fashionistas love to have staples in their closest but also a few upscale pieces to pair so get those pieces.

Self Care Enthusiasts

You can add a lot of the spa and facial/skincare too. Also, add some me time days. For me I enjoy a mani/pedi time so a gift certificate would be perfect. Let your creativity come alive. One year my husband made a basket with all of my favorite things. So it had candles, new journal, new lotions, lippies, curated t-shirts, and more. Effort is the key word.

Support Small Business Owners for Valentine’s Day

I love Etsy. It’s a great platform to support amazing entrepreneurships. So many great products are out there to make your special day even more special. Check them out.

Welp that is all for now. Don’t forget the kids for Valentine’s Day too. They love to get things. I started getting my kids things when my oldest daughter was about 3 or 4 years old. I am still going strong. It really makes me so happy to come downstairs on Valentine’s Day and see the display that I make of their gifts. My husband adds his and it starts the day off with vibrancy.
