Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Happy Friday! I am super excited. I mean this week has been interesting in every way. From maintaining this blog, being in mom mode, and everything in-between. So let’s talk about it!

Social Media Shenanigans

Did you miss the craziness of Derrick Jaxn? No way you could have. It’s been the talk of the week. As much as I don’t like to talk too much social media stories on the blog unless it makes sense-this makes sense. As a blog that champions women’s issues it’s disheartening to watch and listen to the disrespect that Derrick showed his wife. At the end of the day I don’t know why she’s participating in this media circus especially since she’s the victim. We will come back to this in the podcast!

Big Time at the Philadelphia Zoo

I took my children for the media opening day for Big Time at the Philadelphia Zoo. It was amazing fun. It’s a realistic 24 dinosaur exhibit. When I say it’s life-like I mean absolutely that. I will have the VLOG and Blog available on Monday March 29th which is the same day it opens up for the public. I loved that we were able to get out while social distancing. The kids enjoyed their time too. One of the benefits of working in media is being able to attend these events and getting the exclusive.

Rest and Restoration

I got my rest. I told y’all last weekend that last Friday was World Sleep Day! With that being said I made it my business to get my real rest. So much so that I didn’t even have a Sunday Message. I will be back with it this week! Who would have thought I would have enjoyed washing mine and my daughter’s hair? While watching the new show, Waffles and Mochi with Michelle Obama, we had the best time. I would watch it without my kids. It’s so good and has some amazing lessons. So if you didn’t get your rest this week or even last weekend, make it your business to do so this weekend.

Warm Weather Happiness

I’m loving this mini warm up. I can’t wait for it to become a more steady stream of warm weather days. There’s nothing better than wearing a lighter jacket to no jacket at all. I’ve enjoyed an extra Target trip with the windows down. FYI I’m on a mission to cut my spending so I’ve been ordering and doing my drive up! I’m on team save. This ensures Target doesn’t tell me what to buy! This warm weather has been trying to tell me I need more clothes, etc. but I’m going to just shop my closet first!

Self Care Essentials

My self-care has been about listening to podcast, decadent body balms, and quiet time. I’ve been trying to take my self-care seriously. With that being said here what I’m listening to when it comes to Podcast. FYI as a podcaster I also love listening to shows. Podcasts help clear my mind. They are comforting and informative. They allow me to yell and laugh! Here’s my top 3 podcast of the week.

Turn to your Neighbor: a Christian podcast that talks about the stories that have been going on in church. It’s hilarious and fun!

Ratchet and Respectable: a no bars hold podcast that takes everything where it needs to be. The stories are about things happening in the world. The title is clear so don’t come back saying you weren’t aware.

Dead Ass with Khadeen and Devale: husband and wife dual talking about millennial marriage and raising a family. This is a raw conversation about all things marriage and life.

You see a theme? I like conversations that are clear and to the point!

Things I’ve Purchased for the Week

The Wrap Life- I purchased more hair wraps and headbands. It helps me to keep my curls lasting longer. They are super cute too! No I’m not making a commission on this they are just that good. I love the way they feel and customer service is AMAZING.

Elements of Aliel-this body balm is all you will ever need to be smooth like a baby. Jew women and Black owned. Ordering is super easy and fast. The packaging is exquisite and done with care!

Blogs You May Have Missed

It’s been a long week and definitely a lot of blogs. We finished with our last round of Women History Month honorees. I will end the month with content of course. Thank you to every woman who participated! If you missed any of the women, I will do a 2021 recap of them and post it on March 31st! As always this blog is always about championing women! I’ll also include a recap of the products and financial support you can give for every woman we highlighted!

Monday Motivation: Managing Anxiety

Women’s History Month: Ashley Willis

Edge Naturale Hair Vitamins

Women’s History Month: Erin Stafford

Women’s History Month: Ebony Williams

Podcast, Conversations with Toi

We take it there about the situation and drama of Derrick Jaxn. This was before we found out that he impregnated someone allegedly. Since the recording more information has come out from blogger, Tasha K. Keep in mind I respect what she does as a celebrity blogger. It’s not my cup of tea to drag celebrities but I support her genre. We all have our own lane and imma stay in mine. The infidelity and blowback is important to discuss as women deal with similar issues all around the world. Its key to remember that Derrick is 100% wrong. Take a listen to the podcast! Remember that the podcast are available on ALL podcast platforms!

Weekend goals:

I will be at my bi-weekly nail appointment and getting my oldest hair re-braided. I will be taking an online class to help support my business. In addition of course I love to indulge in a glass of coffee and by night, wine. I have content coming out on Saturday for a woman-owned wine company so be on the lookout!

As always thank you for continued support in the blogs as well as the podcast. I never ask for anything but I have started a new support that if you want to contribute to my platform you can buy me a coffee! It’s simple and easy and a great way to help creators continue to build behind the scenes!

Oh and this is the last Friday of the month. April is around the corner and that means we will be starting the 2nd quarter of the year! Look out for my 2nd quarter information to hit on April 1st. Oh and that’s no joke!
