Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Blogger in Juneteenth queen shirt

It’s interesting to me that I’m fully aware that today’s post will come with some negativity. All week I’ve read nothing but how this wasn’t a real holiday. There’s so much history behind Juneteenth and I feel that people should really read up on it. They most likely won’t but they should.

Juneteenth is a Celebration

It always has been. The Emancipation Proclamation had already freed slaves but good ole Texas wasn’t ready to allow their slaves free. When soldiers came to enforce the enslaved to be free it became known as Juneteenth. It’s important that we celebrate people no longer being enslaved because slavery shouldn’t have happened in the first place. So any of the humans today that is taking issues with that lets me know where you stand. That’s not going to stop the celebration!

Federal Holiday

Just like any other holiday people are more in arms so my question is do you plan to not accept the day off? Do you plan to use your day off to work? To complain? It’s rhetorical I know the answer! It’s sad that people are so miserable in their own skin that even a day that they don’t like which gives them off they still won’t be happy.

Black Boxes

Remember those black boxes that everyone had up? Businesses were going black to amplify Black voices! It was an interesting time. What has been done since those black boxes? Have you diversified your staff! Equal pay to your workers? Increased campaigns to include Black and Brown faces and made their pay equitable? I know the answers because I work in marketing and it’s very few and far in between where I’ve seen an increase. Companies love to do what others around them are doing but not enough to make a social impact!

So today I’m amplifying like I do daily Black businesses, content creators, etc.!

Black Influencers and Business Owners

The influencing world as well as Business owners do a lot to make their businesses pop! From one being true to themselves and building their brands to juggling life and responsibilities!

So there’s a lot that we can purchase from that supports Black owned business owners who don’t get the necessary backing of major corporations or investors. We know that ownership is important but we need more Capitol to be raised. In the meantime we can do our part!

So Happy Juneteenth! I’ll be posting on my Instagram stories all kinds of Juneteenth events that can be done in person and digitally!
